Amazing space race !!

It really is impressive that a group could quickly design a project that carries a man into space for just $20 million from start to finish. Look at how small a scope the flight was, just a carrier plane, then a small rocket propelled aircraft. No massive rocket booster, no massive towers, etc.
A few other groups are going to launch over the next year or so. Even though it seems like such a short flight this is the first step toward the future of space.
I can't wait to see what the other groups come up with, I believe a Canadian company is going to be next.

Yep, it's is the beginning of exciting times. It's funny, but the point of these flights was never the $10 million prize, but the achievement itself. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to issue the challenge, it gives the dreamers an excuse to work on it. I can't wait to see the advances that will be made next year, the year after, etc.

Of course, when you let ANYONE design something you get very effecient designs and the like.
For example NASA's original figure for a trip to mars was several billion dollars, and they were told to shove it
SO they asked a few people what they could do to cut back and got it down toa few million
Now that more people are designing ityou will see more economicl approaches, and some very ....interesting....and effiecient approaches.
Just wait until microsoft gets into it
You'll see space flight for a few thousand dollars! Of course it will be prone to frequent crashes and blue screens of death half way through
SPACE BUS HERE I COME! BWA HA HA HA

Those of us that witnessed the 2nd successful flight of this plane all witnessed a new chapter in human flight. This ranks up there with the Wright brothers, or when the sound barrier was broken. Space is no longer the exclusive domain of a Few governments. Within a hundred years we went from a flight that lasted only a few minutes at Kitty Hawk, to civilians s putting men in space. I can’t wait to see what we come up in the next 100 years. It should be very interesting indeed:cool:

I saw a documentary on the Discovery Channel about Spaceship One on Sunday night and it was incredible. It went through construction, test flights and included the first flight into space before the one that counted for the Ansari prize. Great show.
I think it was called Dark Sky or Black Sky something like that. If you have a chance to see it I recommend it. I'm not sure if the one Mugzy found is the same one, but its great.
