200K would not be enough. Not even close.

I personally think that there should be 3 salary levels, and then just performance-based incentives.
$500,000
$1 million
$1.5 million
Every player comes into the league at $500,000 if they have a godo eyar, then can go up. If they have gone up and the next season they stink, they can go down.
Thererfore the league is very competitive and players' performance dectates their salaries.
It is simple and frankly, $1.5 million a year (plus bonuses) is more than enough IMO to play any sport.

Still too low.
Sun Nov 14, 2004 2:36 pm
why is it too low?
where else can hockey players earn that kind of money? NOWHERE.....not even in Europe.

Because these guys make far less then football and baseball players, they are holding out over issues right now, do you think they will play if you cap them at making 1.5M?

I'd play for 1.5M but I guess that is just me...

Don't give up hope yet...I am not optimistic, but I still have hope.
I agree that it is not looking good, but I don't hear your mamma (aka the fat lady) singing just yet!

I havent read this whole thread, maybe you touched on this maybe not but....
Here in CHI the Hawks owner is an a$$ and he has run the team into the ground. We have become the expos, we get good players then trade em when they want more than $10 a game. No one here even cares about hockey anymore really.... I went to games sometimes and they were ok but I will go see the Wolves of the AHL or IHL or whatever it is before I will go see the hawks. The wolves play 10 mins from my house and draw 6000 a game to a small stadium, it is awesome.

Look at the Rangers, Dolan who owns them (and the knicks, and my cable modem provider)does the same thing with the Knicks get all decent to good in the, rangers case to formerly great, players and have them play horribly together. The Rangers suck, the kniocks dont play defense anymore, crapy owners suck. I dont even like the Rangers, im and Islanders fan and i do miss them.
