Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

That isn't entirely true. The recent presidental election as well as the controversy over the Kerry Switf Boat Veterans Ad showed that some stations are very conservative, while others are extremely liberal.

Commentary is not the same as the news. The news itself is not right or left. Like I keep saying, go to
http://www.foxnews.com and
http://www.cnn.com, you see the same stories. Hell, most are AP stories anyway, so they are the exact same story.
Commentary is different, and can be either left, middle or right. Why? Commentary is all about the commentator's personal opinion. Commentary has nothing to do with the actual news each outlet shows.

That's what I meant, only a condensed version of it.

This coverage has been going on since the American Civil War. Did you know that newsmen were among the first waves to hit the beaches at Normandy? Do you think they were there for the fun of it, or, rather to bravely capture the history of it all for future generations to see and learn from it? These guys have BIG BALLS going in with the troops in the midst of combat. I wonder if you would feel the same way watching the WWII shows on the History Channel?
Yes I do. Because its more than a documentary to me. Those are real people actually dying. You don't like my opinion fine, I respect yours.
It just seems we are more and more into "spectating" nowadays, where back then it seemed to be more for historic purposes. Hence the reality show craze. Again, its just something I personally dont like to sit and watch as people are doing one of the most important jobs in the world, and literally taking gun fire that could hit them at any moment.
I just wonder how long before its like "popperazzi" (sp?) running around trying to get interviews with everybody about how they feel after killing said arab, or said badguy ect.

I have much different opinions than alot of you, but thats the beauty of America. Not only do I agree with what our troops are doing over there, I think there should be a pay per view channel running 24 hours a day of our troops blowing shit up, & 100% of the profits should be sent to the families of the soldiers. I would watch it! I think that our country has turned into a bunch of faginas. How do you think we got our freedom, but sitting down and talking about it?
You gotta fight! for other peoples rights! to PARTY! - Beasties

No shit we got it by fighting. I'm not a fagina because I don't think it should be a T.V. special

Heart, I see what you are saying and I agree with a lot of it. It greatly concerns me to see the popularity of shows that trivialize suffering. I taught 8th graders the last 2 years and it was disturbing to see how much they enjoyed shows like "Worst Police Chases IV" or whatever where people would fly through intersections on a bike and slam into a bus or something. These kids couldn't care less that someone just died, or that there were bystanders hurt...the whole culture just reinforces violence. We play violent games, but we (mostly) know that its a simulation, not real. We would never try to do what we can in a game. I'm not so sure about a lot of kids growing up now, with a constant barrage of violence. Anyway, just $.02

i'm concerned about these kids today even without the constant barage of violence.
"Lorraine, you ever have a kid like him, I'll disown you. The kids an idiot. His parents are probably idiots too, comes from up-bringing."

I'm more concerned that King of Beers has one of the Backstreet boys as his avatar.

The more you complain about my "Ali-G" Avatar, the more i'm inclined to not change it.
