Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Wow SKS is common for hunting...Little over kill when hunting for deer.

"The man was out of bullets and was arrested, Zeigle said."
He probably didn't know about assault rifles being legal again.

SKS is a clipper strip fed gun, like the old M1 Garand. Not a very practical deer hunting rifle either--7.62x39 will kill a deer, but it's a pretty underpowered, low velocity round for deer hunting. I'm amazed that he managed to kill 5 armed people with it.

Sounds like the time for a few hand grenades to me...

ah, there was just one gun among all the people that got shot. I thought they all were armed.

Should have laid a log trap like arnie in Predator...
Mon Nov 22, 2004 12:46 pm
That's what I do when in those situations. Just the other day I was at a wedding that I didn't want to go to, but my girlfriend ball busted me into going to it. I just built a decent log trap in the hallway leading to the bathroom. Boom, killed the groom and half his family in one shot, and I got to go home early. Thank god for Arnie's films, I'd never get through life without His teachings!!

Did you remember to come out with a witty one liner?

I love hearing about people shooting people over the dumbest things. Im curious to see what this guy looks like. I picture a trashy looking male, with buck teeth.....you know the kind that you could eat an apple through a fence. Im also curious on how it started. "No...you cant have my tree stand.........thats it.....boom, boom ,boom

Buh? That Soviet cartridge will kill a 160-pound man just fine...why not a 160 pound deer? It's the exact same cartridge that is used in the AK47 (well, minus the FMJ, but deer hunters don't need to conform to the Geneva Convention.) It comes in 125 gr and 150 gr varieties in factory loads, and you could tinker if you;re competent in handloading. It also has a muzzle velocity in excess of 2000 fps.
I don't EVER see anyone complain about the lethality of the exact same cartidge when fired from an AK. I'm not surprised at all that he could kill 5 men from probably under 100 yards with that. That's probably why there are still tens of millions of AK's still in use in armed forces around the world....it's a great rifle built around a great cartidge. When I was in the army, we were scared shitless of being shot at with AK's, but not the underpowered Armalite variants.....

Oh, the 7.62x39 is lethal, no doubt about it. Hey, believe it or not, a .22 is pretty lethal. By underpowered, I mean compared to a 30.06, and I am thinking mostly about range/accuracy. I didn't realize at first that only one person had a gun, and he got shot right off the bat. I was picturing 5-8 people with deer hunting rifles (30.06, .308, etc) out in some field getting in a shoot-out with a guy with an SKS (which had that been the case this guy would have lasted about 10 seconds)
Later on I found out that was not how it went down. But comparing power/lethality, a good deer hunting rifle scares the sh*t out of me more than an AK47, especially if the distances are over 100 yrds.

For some reason known only to him. It took the form of a tree stand argument.
Unrelated: would some people's first reaction to such a totally unexpected situation really be to kill that guy? Scary stuff.

I read about that today in The Toronto Sun, he's HMong, refugees from Laos. The article says how their type of people do not respect the concept of private property, a little biased but I admit, it was a stupid dumb@#$#!
Mind you, this guy does not represent the entire Asian/Oriental community, speaking as an Asian person myself, I'd say that HMongs have always stood out and are shunned by the rest of the Asian countries...
