windows startup

ok so you know when you first boot up your desktop it plays that windows sound. . ya know that standard one? well is there a way i can replace that sound file with another so when i start up windows i can listen to something a little more to my tastes? any directions would be appreciated

ok, I got it! When your computer is re-booting, trun down your computer's volume. Then turn on your CD player. This should accomplish what you want. No need to thank me.

open the control panel and double click "sounds and audio devices"

click the 'sounds' tab at the top, highlight 'start windows' at the bottom and browse for a new sound to be played :)

i figured out how to edit the registry and change the welcome screen that says windows/welcome to whatever you want. havent tried it on xp. did it on school computers in 8th grade :)

I just change mine to ctrl+alt+delet to login. Get rid of the welcome screen all together.

well mine does it automatically with no ctrl alt del i cant remember how i turned it off but o well it works

I have virtual pc on my mac but i never use it because it takes like 20 minutes to start xp and then is slower than hell. Maybe when I get a faster mac the £200 I shelled out may actually begin to pay off...

i dont get macs. i tried using one about a week ago and it seems that theyre so userfriendly i cant figure them out

You need to dumb down. Don't think about what you're doing just click. It will protect you from your own stupidity.
