Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Usually when Microsoft comes to the market late with their own version of a product, it is usually not as good as the established products already out there. So I was quite suprised to read in Slashdot about MS AntiSpyware Beta just out. See article at:
http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/08/196234
Also the MS link for download if your interested:

I tried the beta after running both Adaware and Spybot first and was very suprised to find several items the MS Beta found on my system. Maybe MS got something right? Hard to believe!!

From what I've read, its should end up being better than spybot ect.
I DL'ed it last night, and it did find stuff neither spybot and adaware found.
Looks promising.

Thanks for the link Modyna, the software found 2 spyware
threats that adaware and spybot did not find.
for me thats 2 to many. /me hates spyware and browser
hijackers

for Microsoft and maybe a job well done.

Seems pretty good, but watch that last option:

I think we've all seen The Terminator and countless other 'machines revolt against man' type movies, we should know better than to select that option---it's a surefire ticket to doomsday!

I defeinately checked the NO box on that one

Yeah, I don't need my computer along with a network of other computers to decide that I am a sort of Virus and that they are supreme and should kill me, LOL! They actually used the word 'Supremacy' on that screen!!!
Spynet??? Sounds too much like 'Skynet' for my liking.
Seriously though, having my computer attached to a huge network of computers whose sole purpose is to defeat Spyware is waaaaaay too inviting a target to most malicious of hackers.

microsoft purchased giant software last month. they didn't write it.

Actually, MS does that quite a bit. It's one of the reasons they have many, many pending lawsuits against them at any time is that they are constantly buying 3rd party software (which of course leads to legal disputes eventually)
