Superbowl Sunday !!!!!!

Sun Feb 06, 2005 11:37 am

Has anyone noticed how close Superbowl Sunday is being a national holiday (other than the fact that it's on a Sunday)? It has all the hallmarks, Superbowl themed sales at stores, a huge media buildup, people ask you 'Where are going for Superbowl this year?' like it was Christmas or Thanksgiving. I work second shift (for now anyway) and someone commented that I was lucky, I had half the day to recover from the Superbowl. Someday we may just take that final step and declare Monday after the Superbowl to be paid holiday.
:P

I'm going to a SuperBowl party tonight with a group of friends. We know nothing about football, but we have a US satellite feed, so we're gonna watch the commercials, and talk and eat during the football part.

I'll tune it at kick off, and watch till its over.

Cause its the last game of the Season. I mean World Series is great but it takes four to win. U can lose two games and still have a chance to win. Same thing goes for the NBA finals. Its basically one game decides who the winner is and who is first loser. Kinda stressful and fun.

Nothing exists that is better than football. I don't wanna hear you pansies talk about soccer, cricket, lacrosse or any of these other BS made up sports. Let the flaming begin.

autoracing is better than football... but no physical sport is better...

Europe should consider having Soccer finals (I know, it's not called soccer in Europe) be a single elimination event, just for one year, to see what it's like. I do see the positives of playing series, but the drama in single game constests really is incredible, and it allows for weird things to happen, underdogs to have a great day and kick some powerhouse's ass, etc. Throw in the weather factor and its just a crazy, dramatic, free for all.
