Finally, Apple might use Intel chips, hopefully they won't go for a custom made chip, but instead use the Pentiums, maybe make a custom bios and motherboard so that OSX will only run on an Apple made motherboard. Perhaps even Windows would run on the same custom bios/mb which means Apple could still sell it own hardware along with OSX and Windows too if people want to dual boot. Use standard AGP/PCI Express graphic ports and take advantage of same graphics cards that Wintel users are using. All Apple has to do is keep strict control over which cards they will consider to be supported by Apple. This could be HUGE.

I have a couple of Macs (for the studio, http://www.kronosrecording.com ). It is funny how similar the hardware is. I bought RAM at PC Club, they are like, 'it won't work.' Works great. I bought a 250GB hard drive from them. They are like 'it won't work.' Again, wrong.

The funniest part is if you follow Mac vs. PC debate (dumb, they both server a purpose) it is ironic that after all this time OS X is built on Unix, which was the inspiration for DOS, which was the kernal for PC's until Windows 2000. The more things change, the more they become the same(?).

Apple needs to get off it's high horse and realize they need to bring their OS's out like MS does. Let hardware manufacturer's make the hardware, just sell the OS and make it compatiple with a ton of different motherboards, processors, etc.

If they do work together, than that would mean even more money for Microsoft turning them into even more of a monopoly than they already are. Microsoft will have no competition and will rule the OS's. PC's will also be the world choice.

Microsoft and PC hardware vendors have to have loose specs for compatibility, it's what M$ does best. Apple doesn't go that route, they only deal with a few vendors (outside of firewire, usb devices) for video cards and memory, and they wring all the performance they can get by sticking with really tight tolerances. That's why Macs are really picky about memory. If you throw any old stick of memory in, the Mac will barf. It's sort of like overclocking. Like I say, it has it's benefits (max out it's hardware) and it's drawbacks (lower compatibility)
