It is the blanket SS statement that I found to be a little troubling. Not every cop in America is a jack booted thug. Do we have bad cops…Sure every country does. http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/vote/7130.php. According to this article I could say that Canada isn’t to far behind when it comes to that department. However, Imo for every bad cop there are 10 good ones who are giving us the freedom to not worry about every street thug and evildoer.

P.S. Chacal what if you pulled this guy over would you wait for him to calm down? http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=828246

Spirit of Me, the fact that this tape is available, unedited, shows that those checks and balances are in place and working. We, the citizenry, can see from beginning to end how the cops handled the situation, then look up to find out what happened to the woman afterwards. For all our faults, you must appreciate that the police provided the tape to the press, that the press aired it, and that it was done so in a spirit of openness and honesty. We can then discuss whether his actions were appropriate or not.

That should not be taken for granted.

Personally, I think the cop was in the right to taze her the first time. Chacal, you must understand that cops never know if someone will draw a weapon, so if a person is being uncooperative, and worse, argumentative, it heightens their anxiety. But I don't think tazing her the second time was necessary. She's a 22-year old woman, the two of them could have restrained her easily.

Although their use of force continuum may permit staying at the same level of use of force once it is first employed, I would think once she was on the ground they could have stepped down to a lower level of force.

Agreed, a tape is what allowed the murder of my uncle to be caught. These in car cameras are a great tool.

Of course using them in a morbid way as some websites use them are a disgrace (this case we are talking about did not do that however some do)

I have to agree with Pudrik the second tazzing was too soon. Ive seen the videos of cops testing tazers too see if they are effective at stopping criminals. I have never seen one spring too his feet and do jitterbug after having 50,000 volts race through their body. Having electrocuted myself once (long story) with who knows how many volts it was still very hard to move 2 minutes after it happened.

I would shoot that guy on sight. My defense: he's got crazy-eyes!
WTF! How crazy do you have to get for your insanity to be blatantly evident just by looking at you.

I feel bad for the Border officials. They knew this guy was a psycho, they held him for as long as they could, but they need a reason to arrest someone. Having Crazy-Eyes just isn't enough anymore.

They couldn't turn him back because he is a citizen of
the United States.

Moral of the story: when the cops pull you over, do what the f*** they tell you do. Or at least get off the damn cell phone :rotflmao: :rotflmao: [/B]

You are wrong.

The moral of the story is get a fucking radar detector...

And I have a taser for self-protecion. Those things are nifty. I've actually had to use it a few times.

It's situations like these that are the reason why I am working on legally obtaining a gun liscence. I've had too many close calls. I had to shoot this one crackhead seven times with it.

My uncle was a cop who died trying to enforce the law so I have strong feelings about these things.

Chacal, this is why cops have to be careful. There is no such thing as a "routine" traffic stop.

North Carolina Highway Patrolman Ed Lowry pulled the two over for a simple seat belt violation.

http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/creech/050307

the passenger was able to return to the vehicle and retrieve a fully automatic AK-47. He opened fire on both officers striking them several times. The driver then took Sergeant Lowry's weapon and shot both officers several more times at close range before fleeing.
