I get a feeling, that if it will have such a high DPI it will require a $100 mousepad.

Blah, the $14.95 Logitech optical mouse works fine, and is my preferred gaming implement.

I use the cordless track-man marble and it is wicked..

At the risk of sounding like a

how many of you guys use a 'special' mouse for gaming. I'm under the opinion that the mouse has little or no effect on gaming.

I just have to say, that I asked for
"mice with frickin' LASER beams attached to their heads" and it seems I have finally got my wish!
BTW I already own the MX1000 laser mouse. It rocks!

MX1000 for work and laptop..
MX518 for home computer(gaming machine)
I love the 518 for the on the fly sensitivity adjustments. Great for sniping or spinnin the turret of a tank around real quick.

I just got the Logitech MX518, it's way better than my old $15 mouse.
The sensitivity adjustment is great indeed, really helps with infantry/armor switches.
Logitech already has a lasermouse, but it doesn't seem very essential to me.

I too have the MX1000 and it is great...besides, I am not good enough for bit time gaming mice...

Tried the MX1000 for a bit, then got the MX518 and what a difference. The 518 just felt so much better in my hands. I love the on-the-fly DPI setting controls on the mouse: get in a tank, crank it up, snipe or need finer controls, crank it down. It's also nice that in the software that comes with it, you can configure up to five (I think it's five offhand... at work right now) individual DPI settings. Also nice that there's a shortcut key on the mouse... gives you an extra button on it to use (I use it for flares and smoke).
And I don't mind the cord. Why would I? I'm sitting at the computer desk anyways!

That sounds cool! (dynamic DPI) I wonder if I could do that with the 1000 with some software? I don't want a cord, I love haveing a rechargable basestation and cordless combo. The precision on the 1000 seems better than my older optical logictech mx 600? (cordless with basestation) I adjust the sensitivity for vehicles differently but I could see how for sniping that DPI adjust could be really nice. BTW I still skip one pixel at a time with the sniper scope zoomed in. How can I snipe at long range and not skip over the traget ( very small from my viewpoint)

I have both the Cordless Trackman Marble and the MX 518 currently hooked up. I think both are great.
I'm leaning toward the MX 518 currently. The ability to control the DPI on the fly is a great option. The 518 is very comfortable. Be aware that is it for Right Handers only!
Overall a vast improvement over my old MS optical mouse.

The first thing I noticed about the 518 aside the nice grip and feel in the hand, was the much...MUCH smoother slide on my pad. Compaired to my old mouse and other spare mice it slides like glass. Not to mention the weight is very nice as well..
