Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Hey can anyone help me?
I am trying to play DVD's in my computer and I know i have a DVD/CD combo drive but.. When I put this new DVD into the drive, it cannot play.. both Windows Media and then RealPlayer (I would rather use Windows Media) are telling me that I need a Decoder? I checked out the web via the help options and the only ones offered cost money. Not much, like 10-15 bucks but still.. I would rather not pay anything.
Does anyone know of a good DVD decoder that I can install for free onto my computer?
Thanks for any advice !!

I don't know of any free versions( well free and legit at least) but the most common apps are power dvd and win dvd, did your dvd/cd combo come with any software?

thanks Camel. I will check when i get home from work. My drive came with the computer so it should already be installed? But i will check the cd's that came with my dell.

I use Cyberlink PowerDVD. It was bundled with my drive.

hey thanks guys.. it worked! I found the cyberhome powerdvd software with my original dell cd's and installed it. Works fine now. I did a system re install a few months back and this is probably why i was having the problem.
thanks again !
edit..: i meant Cyberlink.. not cyberhome.
