That study was done on PIGS. Not humans. They also explicitely state that it is dependent on weight. These are also short term studies. So you have proven nothing. Furthermore even if it were safe (which it is not) for every single person (because people have different states of health)... It still does not address the issue of pain and suffering or the growing misuse and abuse of the taser. I think we should just taser you guys and your loved ones, then come back and take a poll on how much you liked it and wouldn't mind having it done to you again because it's such a safe thing to do.

I find that there are two kinds of people in this world when they are in situations involving the law:

People who listen

and people who dont listen

Allah, i think you are one of the latter.

Anybody who does not follow a command of a cop gets what they deserve, and what "they deserve" is up to the cop's discretion.

This is the stupidest thing I've read on this forum yet.

I refuse to agree that tasing is something that is ok to do if someone isn't following orders. I suppose that is as simple as I can state it. I think there has to be some other reason to tase someone. Some threatening gesture from a suspect of a crime that is above a misdeamener in severity.

Then if you were in the cops shoes, how would you handle the situation?

Well said. Allah, your putting way too much thought into something that never needed to go this far. You weren't there or saw the entire sitation at hand, none of us did. Maybe the Police Officers at hand have been in sitations like this before where it turned deadly. You always want to make sure the guy next to you goes home at the end of the day to his family. We can go over the facts all day;

she was drunk
bit her husband
hesitant to get out of the vehicle
started screaming

I know it doesnt look like much but hey, you never know. I bet if it was a tape of the Officers spraying her with mace you'd be here complaining about that too. :D

She has two arms out the door and there is nothing in here hands. As long as her hands are in view there is no need to taze her. If she was reaching for the glove box fine but she;s not. She's just having a stupid infantile spar with her husband/boyfriend...

What's worse is that she'll be processed at the taxpayers expense and maybe charged with resisting arrest or any number of dumb charged. The whole situation could have been defused if the police weren't so damn confrontational. If you back people into a corner they are always gonna do dumb shit.

Anyway as she said she was getting out of the car. His partner had her covered with the tazer and all he needed to do was take another step back from the door and let the lady get out in her own time. I'm not even sure she had the space to lever herself out of the car with him where he was. No offence because I am a big guy too so I know but leverage is essential. If he was standing there with me odds on I'd be almost as unwilling as her to humiliate myself trying to get out of a car without the room to do so. With the tazer guy on the other side of the car he can't really see what is going on.

It's not about non compliance with the law beers, it's about questioning the methods used to enforce that law.

Good luck being a cop you guys. Women is drunk, bit her husband. So, you have to arrest her, no if and or buts about it. So, now you have to arrest her, which mean handcuffing her and putting her in the squad car. She's says 'no, don't touch me'. You grab her, she pulls away. Now what?
It's either wrestle her down to the ground, or taser her. Or, you can go back to station and tell your police captain, sorry, I couldn't bring her in, she said no. Yep, you'll be an effective cop that way. Gee sarge, I tried to stop the drunk driver, but he said no and don't touch me, so I went and ate some donuts.
The wrestling option is considered worse than tasering because of the lawsuits.
So, let's hear your ideas, how to arrest this woman, who won't let you lay a hand on her, won't let you cuff her? Don't say what you wouldn't do, let's hear what you would do.
