I love the Heatley for Hossa trade....Hossa was a good player for sure, but the players around him made him better...Heatley will be a good fit for the Sens and I think that he will work well with the team and really light it up...especially with Spezza.

Great start last night with a 5-2 win over the Leafs!

Penguins will be lucky to make the playoffs sry. All players are not in their primes. It will have to eb the Crosby and Palffy show to make it happen. LeClair isn't even a decent player anymore. Thibault isn't a decent goalie anymore.

this is a free country and everyone is entiled to their oppinions, but is this statement made purely based on hockey fact or because of the flyer in your avatar? :)

Thiabult wasn't brought in to strictly play as our primary goalie, and he has even stated this fact. he is their to guide Fleury and Chiodo and Caron. LeClair, personally i think was a steal, not that he has to be a first rate player but another consistant player.

pass, shoot, score; this is what the team is being assembled around. and you don't need to be in your prime to perform hocky basics.

sounds like the Pens are taking a page out of the NY Rangers roster building manual.

I agree with CodeRed...i personally can't wait till the Penguins and the Ranger's play to see who has the better "out of prime" players. Telling me John LeClair is a steal might be one of the funniest things i've heard in a while. Not dissapoint you but ive watched him for the last 8+ years now as a Flyer, and i remember when he was good. Right now LeClair is a 4th line player nothing better. From Recchi you better hope the year off hasn't completely knocked him off his game, because now he is also really old, and will be a step behind. As for Lemeuix if he plays 10 games be happy. Their goaltending situation is far less adequate then you think, any playoff team will roll the pens in the playoffs if the penguins can't find a real goalie that can play the whole season and post solid numbers and win games for them. The only thing they have going for them is Palffy, Gonchar and Crosby, and it will take time for Crosby to be a good player. The pens problem is they can't decide where they are going, by the time Crosby is a star in this league (in two years) all theur players will be retired or worthless, and you will have another team like the Thrashers, who had Heatley and Kovalchuk, and thats it.

I must admit im scrared of the Sens this year, but im hoping that the Hossa trade doesn't work out for them, and Heatley plays terrible, Spezza will ahve a breakout year and score 30 this year.

The new NHL:
29 penalties in the flyers pre season game against the islanders last night including 3, 5 on 3's in the first period alone.
Hopefully this is just what it is... a pre season warm up for all the guys to get used to the new rules and not what will transpire during the regular season. While the new rules will make the game exiting, a constant parade to the penalty box is not only annoying, but upsets the flow of the game.
