Olde City Tavern in Phila.

So I am going to this restaurant tonight in Philly's olde city section. It is the City Tavern and it was built in 1773. Although the current building is an exact reconstruction completed in 1976 due to a fire in 1834 and storefronts being built in it's place.
Figures from history, mainly the American Revolution, that gathered there include George Washington, Paul Revere, John Adams and members of the Continental Congress.
Anyway, I thought any history buffs or anyone interested in this kind of stuff might find this interesting.

Built in 1308 it is the oldest pub in Gloucestershire, set on the High Street with the only beer garden in Tewkesbury which leads down to the River Avon. There is a play area with a slide etc. and the children can feed the ducks too! It was originally a Coaching House and part of the pub is the converted stable where they used to draw in the horse and wagons. Nowadays it is highly traditional with beams throughout and having the odd three ghosts, a cavalier and an old lady to name but two! Paul and April are keen on offering the best real ales which can be chosen from a good selection. Traditional English food is freshly prepared and cooked to order from local produce whenever possible and can be served outside if the weather is right! The pub gets involved with all sorts of local events from medieval and water festivals to Morris dancing just outside! We have a large regulars following of all ages coming to enjoy the warmth of this cosy pub. Why not join them soon and become a regular yourself!"

Parrot, that is great. It amazes me you can still go somewhere, have dinner in a building from 1309. Yea, us americans have nothing compared to you europeans.

There is not a straight beam in the pic! Check out the sag in the roof and the cracks in the wall! The only thing holding that place together is all the beer that has been spilt over the years
In the New England area we have attractions dating back to the 1600. If you want to talk native there are Indian sites that are much older.

You americans are so paranoid. It's better constructed than most timber frame modern constructions. And that roof is pretty damn straight compared so some of the ones I have seen from that period. The wonders of building in oak rather than cheap ass pine.

That is evident by the fact that is is 700 years old and not only still standing, but able to provide a business.

guess when your drinking you don't give a shit what kind of shape the place your drinking in is.
yea we have some old places here in new england and in my state of Massachusetts. salem is a big tourist attraction and it's about 15 minutes from here, maybe 20.
