I hate truckers.
I had to get to the bank.
I get into the highway, a pack of truckers are going about 50MPH in the 65MPH zone.
I try to pass,
They speed up so I gun it so I can get around them.
THe trucker ahead changes lanes without blinkers and blocks me from passing.
He does not speed up or slow down, he just stays in sink with the guy behind him blocking.....
I try to slow down and get back into the right lane so I don't miss my exit.
THe trucker behind me changes lanes and boxes me in.
I hate truckers. >: (

I think everyone should be forced to drive a truck. THEN you can state your opinions. Things are MUCH different from the other side... Not to say there aren't plenty of assholes who are truck drivers.. I would say far less than compared to the average Joe behind the wheel of a car/suv.
Truck driver.. One of the many jobs I've done.

While i drive 26ft trucks for work, i can sympathize with the truckers who drive the 54 ftrs that have to deal with a-holes who drive like shit around them. for some reason most people think that Big-Rigs are the same as a honda civic.

I have driven a truck before too... not real big but something along the lines of 16 - 26 ft. (we had different trucks for different sized deliveries). I did it for just a couple years and it has been many years since, but I also can see the truckers side of things and respect for them having to manuever these huge rigs around town. I try to give them thier space and respect thier position.
That being said, it still sounds like the truckers Shard was talking about were just being assholes and playing dangerous games.

Some people hate your posts. But they don't go posting about it...but they did. Then you left; but now you are back?
Why?

I do the same. Used to drive Fire trucks. Engines per se aren't that difficult, but the Tiller Ladder trucks can be as long as 52ft. trailers. Different ballgame. So I do sympathize with them as well. If you're on the highway for a long time with them, they're usually pretty good about returning the courtoesy. At least in my experience.

Some truckers can be dicks others seem really sleepy sometimes, but all in all i respect and remain courtious to truckers cause they are professional drivers and are generally more experienced with the hiway than the average john doe. i still zoom past them every chance i get though

I couldn't drive those things so I have a lot of patience with the guys that do. If they want to move into the middle lane to avoid changing gear then I guess it's best to let them do it...

My truck experience ranges from small 15' - 26' box trucks to tractor and 53' trailers. From local runs in the city to cross country.
Driving a truck, especially a large loaded truck is a very different experience from driving a car. Hills have a HUGE impact on your speed and it doesn't have to be a steep hill. You are very aware of mass and inertia when you're driving a loaded truck. Not to mention gears as SavageParrot said and also laws that may be different for a truck than an automobile.
And then, you do have your assholes who drive trucks too. In my experience I've found they're usually local truckers. I'm not saying all long distance haulers are great professionals but it does tend to attract them more so than city work does.
