do either of you know if I could use this at Verizon? or how I can get in at verizon doing a trade/apprentice work. or even comcast.

Mortimer you might be able to better answer his questions than I was able too. I think you have the necessary background what with owning a company.

I never ran or spliced optics, I just did test and turn up of long haul systems. We always had little, tiny korean guys to run the fiber and cables, crawling around in the rafters or under the floor is not for everyone!

You should be able to get in at Verizon, or Comcast with this level of training.
It would probably be easier to get in at Comcast, but they won't pay as well as Verizon. You almost gotta know somebody at Verizon.
You should be able to get in as a Central Office tech at either though.
Try to get a BICSI certification as well. BICSI is the standardization of the cabling industry.
That will help you too. Good luck!

I've run and terminated but not spliced cables. My background is heavy on the Networking side, light on the cabling side. Cabling is a part of my job but not the job itself.

thanks Mort! I do know somebody at Verizon, hope it helps my chances.

Not a problem man.
Verizon is the way to go though, and knowing somebody will definitely help you get your foot in the door.
Good luck!

getting the hook up for verizon in december/janury. for such a large company it's hard as shit to get in. glad I'm best friends with someone whos entire family works for verizon. I know a lot of people who can get me in there.

yea college is boring to me at the moment haha. too easy and I want some cash. have a long time to do college or get a degree, I'm not sweating it.
