Auctions on eBay for the machine are escalating fast. Early Tuesday morning, core systems were selling for as little as $650, a notable markup from their $299 street price, but not outrageous by eBay standards. Premium systems (with a wireless controller, hard drive and cables for high definition TVs) were selling for closer to $1,000, a $600 markup from their $399 retail price.

By mid-morning, though, one premium system sold for $3,050. And others were showing bids of over $1,700 with time remaining on the items.

F*ckin idiots.. i mean really wtf? why would you pay that much? For that much you could have the most bitchin gaming pc.

The worst part is, I would imagine more shipments of XBOX360s will be hitting stores every week between now and Xmas. It's not like they are a limited edition, only making 1000 of them or something.

When I was just at my local Best Buy, like I said in the post above, I asked about the XBOX360's. They said if you order now, you won't get it till after new years. lol WOW :P

The XBOX 360 just came out today. I couldn't get my hands on one, but rumor has it that there's an XBOX 360 shortage because of the fact that they simply wanted to realease it before sony does for its PS3. Target doesn't do reservations, that's why it may be best to go to a Target at the time they open (like I did) and see if you can get one. I didn't because of the mile long line of people. HELL. there was one guy camped outside the Target 3 days ago and when it was the big day.....HE FELL ASLEEP AND DIDN'T GET ONE!!!!! :rotflmao:  At any rate, it's obviously a big item on the market, you'll just have to fight for it. SO GRAB YOUR CHAINSAW AND RUN MOW THROUGH THAT CROWD AND CLAIM YOUR XBOX 360!!!!!!!

Regarding backwards compatibility, I just found this on engadget (great info site, btw):

http://gaming.engadget.com/entry/1234000577067729/

It's from 11/12/2005 so the details may have changed by now.

EDIT: Also, found this for a compatibility list (official list):

well, although a couple of my games didn't make the list, it's still good. Thanks for the info.

It's all hype. There will be Xbox360 getting shipped every week between now an Xmas, I'll bet my life on it.

M$ had 450,000 ready to roll in the US for the big unveiling. If that was all they were able to sell between now and Jan 1st due to supply issues, you'd find Bill Gate, Steve Ballmer, and about a dozen other M$ officers with their throats slit, and the Redmond campus would be in flames.

>>Jim Babb, a spokesman for Circuit City (NYSE:CC - news), said the retailer "would always like to have more" and expects to get resupplied several times between now and Christmas.<<

got mine. fun.

I worked for Best Buy when PS2, GameCube and XBOX all came out, same story for each of them... they had 25 in store the 1st day of sales, then sporadically they'd get 10-12 in and sell them within an 4 hour period.

then a week after new years they were as plentiful as pussy at the playboy mansion... hold your wads fellas.

You said it KingofBeers! 100% agreement here. I plan on buying one for my nephew for Xmas, figure I'll probably get it at the end of the first week of Dec.

I'm holding out for PS3's arrival. Then, do some comparison and then make my decision then.
