SpyAxe Malware blues.....

Postby MoDyna » Fri Dec 02, 2005 11:18 am

Anybody else had to deal with this trojan malware. Sheeesh, been two days cleaning my PC after getting infected. What a pain......Fortunately, it was not my gaming PC. Any hoot, finally found a fix by Googling and following various theories and instructions out there. Funny how none of the many applications that should have found this infection, didn't. Like Spybot, Ad-Aware, PestPatrol, MS AntiSpyware & Norton AntiVirus all failed me.....

Anyway, if you get this one, give me a heads up and I will tell what I did to get rid of it....

Copy that Mo, so far I have had pretty good luck with
Spy bot, ad-aware, AVG and for those really tough browser
hijackers "hijackthis". With a wife and 2 grown up kids that
like to click on any and every thing I have to do a lot
computer cleanups.

Sounds like you got one that those can not handle, I hope
I don't run into it or it runs into me.

Hi Blade, yep even HijackThis was unable to resolve this one. Or to be more exact, the log probably displayed the file (line) that was the problem, but would you delete SVCHOST.DLL without someone helping you identify that as the host infections file??? Anyway, thank goodness there are alot of really sharp people out there to get help from in cases like this... WE ARE NOT ALONE!!!! :)

I'm trying to decide if your comments fall under the dazzle with brilliance or baffle with BS.....

Spybot used to be good but now it's total utter shit. I just do hijack this and then google any process that you don't know what it is.
