Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

You're pretty safe being an American in America, especially if you are caucasion. Being foreign and getting picked up by the US *outside* of America is the most dangerous situation for anyone. Even if you're innocent, it could take 3-4 years before you ever see the light of day. If you're in America, you you get to have a lawyer and all that. I'll never figure out why anyone, the US, Russia, Vietnam, whoever, bothers to hold low level prisoners for years. If you catch a high ranking officer, you might find out some juicy stuff, but regular soldiers don't know shit.
What's your name?
-it's written on my shirt
Where's your base
-you know where my goddamn base is, it's on the map!
What were your orders?
-to shoot at you.
WTF are you going to get out of the guy that you don't already know? Only in 'Star Wars' do the entire secret blueprints of your most valuable military installations get put into a drone. GI JOE or GI Mustafa isn't privvy to the big top secret plans , and after you have him for 3 years, he *really* doesn't know what the f**** is going on anymore.
Even in Iraq, if you catch guy planting an IED, you won't get much. All he's going to tell you is that some guy name muhammed gave him $200 to put this box by the side of the road. What did he look like? Brown hair, brown eye, swarthy complexion? No shit?! Yeah, lets go through downtown Baghdad and see if anyone matches that description.

What people are saying here about the guy going crazy at the airport before getting shot reminds me of Dustin Hoffman in "Rainman". Remember the scene where he goes ballistic when Tom Cruise tries to get him to go on the plane?
Riding on an airplane these days is serious and not to be taken lightly as there are the lives of many others involved. It is not a right, but a privelage. A convenient luxury that we have available to us through privately owned companys.
Like said earlier, people need to take responsibility for their own actions, whether it is screaming and yelling "bomb" at an airport or running from the cops in a crowded subway.
This is an unfortunate incident that probably should never have happened if the wife/and or husband took the correct precautions and responsibility given thier special situation.

It was an interesting turn of event in light of the fact that we were just talking about the reality TV show that features the airline people denying passengers their flight because they are drunk or acting strangely. I guess it turns out that maybe those airline workers probably saved some lives by denying some of thoe people their flight.

It is unfortunate but they have already said that the officer followed all of the given guidlines for dealing with people of this nature. And I'm betting that they have a list of words that when used gives them the authority to take action, some being with guns...And I am quite sure "bomb" was a very touchy word that was pointed out for useage...No matter what the officer did he would of been put in the wrong one way or another...He does nothing and they find out he wasnt taking his medicine and nothing happenes but then people question what could of happened if he did have a bomb...He has a bomb and he does nothing, he is in a world of trouble, and is probably not around to get in trouble, or he shoots him and he did have a bomg and he is ruled a hero for doing the right thing...Almost every thing he could have done was not going to end up good...I'm sure they have had training in simulations for these type of situations...not much more he could have done.

Give the rebels some credit, they stole the blueprints... through trickery and deception. Its not like they had the plans sitting on the coffie table and a rebel came up and picked them up.
