Government
I took the ASAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) in high school and scored very high on it. They wanted to recruit me after that but I couldn't because of a medical condition. (btw if I could id be a leatherneck like my cousin and brother-in-law) I'm with B on the whole idea of the draft. I wouldn't be accepted either jimmy but id be willing to go as I was in high school. Poeple alrdy hate Bush enough, there will be no draft.

i was refering to cases such as Vietnam, or when they were talking about a draft for iraq, 2 wars i didn't agree with (especially after hearing the pentagon tapes concerning vietnam). if WWIII were to erupt, i'd have to go no doubt.

There's not going to be a draft. Charles Rangel tried to intro a bill recalling the draft, but it was just a political shenanigan, it died a quick death. The support for this war has eroded to the point we'll be starting our drawdown this year, thank god.
I have a lot friends in the military, and I feel pretty bad for them. They trained to fight, and wound up getting sent someplace to act as a moving targets. The military will go anywhere and fight, without questioning it. It's our job to not send them anywhere unless it's absolutely necessary. It's our job (as civilians) to do the skeptical questioning. Hey, I got fooled in this, I'm ashamed to admit it. I really trusted people like Colin Powell. I've learned my lesson, it's too bad other people paid in blood for that lesson. I'm not shedding any tears for Saddam, but first and foremost, I feel bad that we are just telling our soldiers to drive/walk around until someone shoots at them or blows them up with an IED. Pretty friggin amazing that with all the books written on Vietnam, not one of these assclowns in the govt ever bothered to read one--ironic considering all the time they had to read 'em while they were avoiding the war with the help their rich mommies and daddies.
Woohooo, this thread is as political as all hell now!!!!!

You got that right B, with millions or billions of years of evolution, GWB might one day hope to evolve into a chimpanzee.

Some people (myself included) believe that the President wasn't sure if they had WMDs, and basically used some reports that he knew were wrong to help convince congress. Also, possibly, attacked anyone who brought points that questioned some of his evidence--namely the outing of Valeria Plame (a CIA agent) because her husband let the public know that a certain piece of intelligence was false.

absolutely right about them being moving targets. half the time it's the only way to find those scum bags, to get shot at

greg I dont back our president with half the decisions he makes. If I were old enough to vote at the time he sure as hell wouldnt have had my vote, either times he ran. The next election I will be voting. We have the right not to back up "our" president with any decision he makes. In my opinion the only people he is president to are the ones that voted for him.

Alright. But I ask you. How could a thread NOT be political with 'government' in the title?
