My tour in Iraq (2004)

I'm bored so I'm going to share my pictures with you guys that I took while I was in Iraq in August of 2004.
These were taken during a convoy delivering food and medical supplies to the city of Balad.

This painting was in the our squadron. I think that this building was an Iraqi security building. The wall reads, "The hawk is a good hunter because it kills individually". "Our great leader Sadam Hussein God protect him".
Another painting which reads, "Warning! Remember the job you do. In the mistake of one security officer is equal to the mistake of 1000 men. Be certain that information only goes to those who need it."

Convoy getting ready to leave LSA Anaconda. Sorry for my finger....used a windup camera.
Inside the hanger I worked at. You can see where a bunker buster hit it and the hole was filled back up.
Another convoy leaving LSA Anaconda/Balad AB. Wouldnt want to mess with this bad boy! Notice gunner on top of tank.
One of our living areas. We call these trailers, "hooches". A rocket landed right where I took the picture at a few weeks earlier, but nobody was injured.
Just a picture I took at sunset...thought it looked pretty cool.

The one and only camel spider we caught over there. Its dead in the picture, no way in hell I would get that close to a live one.

Friend of mine in 'tent city' in 2004 before we all were moved into trailers.
Some planes on LSA Anaconda/Balad airbase that I took pics of.
Used to be "saddam love the c*ck".
But now its your mom. Ahh classic.
Tent E-6 for sale. I lived over in 12 right down the path. On sept 11th, a SrA was walking outside of his tent (20yds from where this pic was taken) and a rocket exploded 3 ft away from him. He survived, but lost both legs and his right hand.

I really like the picture of the insurgent propaganda. When you're way out there in the desert with nothing to do, I can imagine how the statements in these leaflets could slowly poison your mind, even if you didn't take them seriously.

Good pictures munky, thanks for posting them.
