Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

No one in America should be allowed to have a gun except me.

Heh.
I'm proud of you. I was also on my own at 18 and getting ready to have my daughter. Not easy being on your own at 18 and just starting out. I didn't have much, but i got a job after my daughter was born working from 2am to 6pm and commuting to the Bay area to a job i hated. I didn't try to sue or scam my way into money. People like that are sad.

Going back to something said earlier, loading any weapon in public can be considered "menacing" depending upon your local laws and can be enough of a reason to detain you or at the very least get handed a hefty fine.
Regarding the original poster: I'm a bit leary of believing much of the story. The following come to my mind: (1) the facts changed during his discourse here in this forum, (2) there's a pre-existing prejudice against the police in his subject line, (3) if you have the ability to drive with the gun in your trunk, why wouldn't you, (4) what was the brick for, (5) to look at this situation as a possible means of making money does NOT win my sympathy in the least, yet he argues later he's concerned about his rights (yeah, right), and (6)if I saw someone in a car and it looked like he was loading a weapon, I would call the cops and expect them to treat the situation as if the worst case scenario could happen.

Yeah, that line kind of pissed me off, too. Earn your pay, man. Needs be, drop the internet and cable bill. Of course, they'll probably nail you on reconnect fees when you're back on your feet.

My 2 cents on your "rights"... Outside of your own home, in "public" you have none. People abuse their "right to..." this shit, that shit in this counrty (USA) all the fucking time and it's getting old. Our predecessors went to the mat for their beliefs and ideals to make this a place where you don't get killed for thinking or acting against society, but they were still civilized. Freedom of Speech and expression and all that crap is what makes me able to bitch like this, but I have enough tact to not push the envelope all the God damned time. Thankfully the moderators at ECGN are not as socialist as I tend to be, so this post will actually make it into the forum.
Basically, use your brain. Don't act like a dickhead in public and they'll have no reason to harass you.
And as for the money thing - stop. Just stop. In a system where convicted murderers sit in little air conditioned boxes and watch cable TV instead of being disposed of, the last thing we need time and money wasted on is something as frivilous as hurt feelings.

Sounds a like a shitty pullover to me, but let me ask you this, did you go to jail...or did they let you go no harm no foul. You could sue, but i doubt you will get shit from it. Good thing you werent drunk or you would have been F'ed in the A.
