Man, that song makes me want to work for the London Undergound. I can already say 'Mind the gap' --I've been practicing!

ok then cavalier, im gonna have to shoot you with a rifle then, i've been practicing.
I have never actually been on the undergrond.
One *major* flaw in your plan. I believe (I could be wrong) there are strict gun control laws in Britain. Therefore, you have no rifle, and hence no rifle practice. On the other hand, In America, we are allowed to have anything short of a nuclear bomb. I personally own an AK47, and I have been shooting recently--well, it was two months ago.
So, Mind the gap!

Oh wait, major flaw in my plan too, I rather doubt they'll let me bring my AK to England. Is it possible to get some sort of 'Crazy Yankee Waiver' to allow me to bring it?
maybe I won't be able to earn my living there after all. All that practicing, saying 'Mind the gap' , all for nothing

Oh well, it was a funny song.

It's really not that hard to get a rifle over here. You need to have a secure lockable place to store it (so a gun safe), which has to be firmly secured (fixed to an exterior wall). Then you need to get a firearms license (you have to fill out a form the horror!) And you are all set. In some cases they may want you to have a sponsor or show a legitimate reason for use (generally if you have an inner city address and bugger all use for a shotgun) but that's rare.
There are other rules like you are not supposed to store ammo in the same place, but so long as you move it if the police come to check (they always give warning) then there is no problem. Also you are not allowed to fire the gun within 50 metres distance of a public highway.
It's just common sense in my opinion and as far as I can see the same rules applied in america wouldn't be uncostitutional either. When they wrote that it was everyman's right to bear firearms they weren't talking about crack dealers with uzis. I don't think it's unreasonable to make guns as safe as possible...

Well, I've learned something new today! I wasn't sure. All I know of England is what I see on TV. I see (rich) people hunting, but regular people seem to regard (once again, this is the movies) guns as something illegal or a big deal. I figured England probably had some law where the license cost tons of money, like thousands, and thus maybe the average Joe couldn't afford to own a gun. Well, If I do get my dream job (Mind the gap) I guess I better bring my AK afterall
BTW, those are common sense rules. Maybe add to that 'no undocumented private sales' to close off that little loophole.
