Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

what do you all think about a TRADE forum?

Sun Feb 26, 2006 10:50 am

I see many pc gamer forums that have a 'trade' section. Example one below which I trade on all the time.

http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=8

Think ECGN might be open to this?

We don't have any chatter about it, so why impliment? Like puttiing a pizzahut in the sahara

I'm open, but I'd like to be assured that this is valid:

The Octopus Overlords accept no responsibility or liability for any trades entered into by members of the forum. Trade at your own risk.

Can this be overturned in court in the US? I wouldn't be willing to take the risk if it can.

Better yet, the forum could be used for advertising wanted/for sale items only, any actual transaction would have to be done outside the forum. Basically, this could be like the ads section in a newspaper: no discussion threads, and all posts pre-moderated.

I wouldn't be willing to go with feedback / ratings / etc. This is too involving and dangerous.

how about trading through pm and not in an open forum?

chacal can you ask tom and jon?

Like I said, you don't have any demand for it so why fuck with one?

Mon Feb 27, 2006 1:12 am

I think we all got it the first time, thanks.

If you can work all those finer details out, Chacal (and anyone else who would/could figure them out), I don't know why not. Have to make sure ECGN can't be held responsible for bad transactions and all that. And if it turns out that it's not so popular, can't you just get rid of it?

I want one!!!

as chacal said, we got you the first time.

Plus some DO want one, if you don't want it no one would force you to GO to that forum section.

It is very popular on many sites and saves a bunch of people money by trading with one another.

Funny you should mention that. The classic image of the pyramids that everyone sees in photos or on TV is actually slightly zoomed in. The same view from the city is littered with signs for Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonalds and Taco Bell among others.

What you see when you're in the Pizza Hut across from the pyramids.

The city isn't in teh middle of the sahara, it is next to teh nile, where plenty of water is.

You didn't say "middle".

Anyhow I don't se the harm in a trading forum, especially if it's handled like a newspaper's want ads. Post what you want/have and take all business to PM's.
