Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

rediculous, unbelievable

omg, I've never even heard of CellFactor but that game looks incredible. So much commotion and shit blowing up everywhere. I don't know how you can play it but it looks like a lot of fun.
sorry for the double post

The down side to having an Ageia card is that you need a high-end video card to render all the new/additional effects.

Very impressive.
Something like that could be an SLI or Crossfire killer.
The question is will game deves totally support it and code for it mainstream..

As a matter of fact, I think they will jump on board. I think I've read an article where Ageia is working with Nvidia. i'm sure ATI will not want to be left out.
This will come. There is no doubt in my mind. I would even be willing to bet that within one year this chip will be included on both Nvidia and ATI cards.

Now that's what I call using THE FORCE!

I dont know if they could add it on new cards. Probally going to need to be a separate card, which I would gladly buy in place of an sli solution..

Where there's a will, there's a way. Right now it's on a separate card, but I am fully confident they will eventually reduce the chip size and fit it onto video cards. I would think there would be a huge profit if you could sell your chip to both Nvida and ATI (and others), rather than sell your own card.
Just think... every video card will have this processing power one day. Either that or Nvidia or ATI will make them an offer they can't refuse and then only one or the other will have it.
Just my opinion.

I would actually rather have a separate card. It would give people a third option from SLI or Crossfire.

Umm, you guys DO realize this isn't a video card related processor, right? It's a PHYSICS Processing Unit, not a GPU. What you see graphic wise is just the GPU using the abilities of the PPU. Normally it's your CPU doing all the physics calculations, etc. See below:
Isn’t physics just juiced up graphics?
No, graphics is all about how things look. And today’s general purpose GPUs do a great job of rendering and displaying beautiful 3D imagery. But 3D graphics is just that: Graphics. Physics is an entirely different beast. It’s not about how objects look, but about how objects in your game move and react.
Edit: I love the pricetag:
How much does AGEIA PhysX cost?
PhysX accelerators are very affordable with an MSRP of $299

The question is, how much of a load does it take off the processor when a game offloads physics calcs to this card. If it takes 10% or less of the load off I wouldn't be too impressed. If it takes 25-30%, then maybe it would be worth $200. Otherwise it would just be cheaper to keep physics calcs on the proc and pay a little more for the higher end processor.

It's supposed to eliminate Phsyics processing on the CPU completely. Basically, the CPU will be doing *just* AI/logic/thinking, the GPU will do all rendering, and the PPU will do only physics.

But currently, CPU do things like physics processing (rag doll effects and such), how much of a hit does the CPU take doing these physics calcs? In other words, how much of load would take off a CPU to have it only doing AI and such? I haven't seen any data. It would be nice to see something like BF2 get optimized for it, then compare the two versions on the same computer.

I think it's a great concept, as the vids showed. My only problem is with the pricing point. $299 may not be a problem for some of you, but I can't justify it just for bells and whistles (have already spent enough on GPU, decent CPU, and RAM).
Hopefully, a year from now or more, the price will go down. Granted, the price is MSRP so perhaps the companies that push it out will drop it a bit. I'm excited about the technology, though. I just hope it's a tad more affordable down the road.
