check out thermite, which is iron oxide (rust) and aluminum. The second video shows them melting through an engine block with a flowerpot full of thermite. Dangerous stuff, it melts steel instantly.
Also good for laugh in the second video, the English make fun of the French more than we do!

oh my god i'm so doing that when i get drunk tonight.

you can make nepalm(sp?) by taking a little bit of gasoline and melting clean styrophome into it (just stick the styrophome in the gas and it melts). it burns forever, but leaves a sticky mess where ever you do it.

doesn't it take a shitload of heat to get thermite started? like 1500 degrees or more?

It takes a lot of heat, more than a match. I think you can rig something with common sparklers, or by scaping the magnesium(?) off of sparklers. I guess that stuff burns hot enough, yet can be started with a lighter. I'm not too sure.
Just remember, if you decide to mess around with thermite, that stuff is unbelievable, incredible dangerous. You definitely want to be outdoors with it, otherwise it would be like that scene in 'Alien' where the acid blood drips through every floor in the ship. A good pile of that stuff will burn through *anything* including steel. There's no way to put it out with water or a fire extinguisher, it burns until it's used up.
I guess if you do it wrong, you get a steam explosion, which of course throws molten iron around. Not very safe. BTW, they actually make thermite grenades for destroying equipment.

Thermite grenades are used to destroy equipment and vehicles. They don't go 'boom' they just sit there and melt whatever is around them. Good for destroying buildings and such via fire.

Here's a vid of soldiers using a thermite grenade on a safe.

Here's a high school science class experiment showing thermite.

Jesus, I hope this stuff isn't too easy to make or obtain.
