New video card?

Postby Mugzy » Tue May 16, 2006 10:27 am

Currently, I have a 128m ATI 9800 pro. Is there a card I could upgrade to for under $200 that would give me a noticeable performance boost?

A 6600GT should give you a nice boost and can usually find a deal on them for around $150.

Bah.. Go higher than the 6600GT or.. if you do want to go that way and have a PCI-E motherboard (Which I doubt), I'll sell you mine. :)

Check out the 7600 line.

Uh, AGP or PcI?

http://tinyurl.com/kg26q PcI Ex

Myself having the x8xt AGP model since april 21st of last year, was, and still is worth every penny.

Not a fan of the visiontek, get a HIS.

Thikin your stil a AGP user, and dont want a whole system upgrade, if you have 754, maybe you should consider a new MOBO, agp has infact died, price wise, and deal wise.

There is still talk aobut a 79 GS AgP version, but thats middle of summer wise, dont get your hopes up.

Better to go with a 300 budget, new mobo, and a x850xt "Go for the his, cant go wrong with the cooler"

A 9800 pro only comes in AGP, pcie wasnt around at that time.

He is limited in what he can get for under $200 in an AGP format. Not to mention he shouldnt be spending a lot on a vid card at this point as it will already be outdated. AGP is dead for the most part..

The 6600gt is a good boost over the 9800 pro and is fairly inexpensive.

If you cant afford to go pcie and get a 7600gt or 7900gt then just go with the 6600gt at this time and save up to upgrade later this year or next.

Max he can get in AGP is the 7900GT however it is a lot more than $200..

You may be able to find a 6800GT used for around $200 or so..

AGP IS FUCKING DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has been for about, well, since last fall/ last summer/ last spring.

get a damn now mobo, 754 pci X, and a x850xt, a WHOLE 300. That will hold you over till the winter/ next spring when the dx10 cards will come out.

Ps, even if you had 300 to spen on a agp card, you would still be OVERPAYING aobut 75 bucks, for not even half of what a x850xt could do.

Go get your 6600.. shit PWNS~!

Thanks Davis, I think everyone in this thread understands that AGP is dead.
Though he wants to upgrade his video card for under $200. Can you find a Video card and Mobo for under $200(not $300) that would be a noticable upgrade?

Uh, damn, thats a toughy... uh agp... NO CHANCE IN HELL, get a 78gs hell gs co, and its still neck and neck with the x800 series.

Tell you what... IF YOU REALLY want to wait till say june 10th to get your hands on a visiontek x800xt "HUGE UPGRADE, had a 9800 pro, which i still do" from spring of 04"

Will sell you my visiontek x800xt for 200, plus what ever fed ex shipping is.

You do paypal, would like a subscription to beautiful decay/ diggnation/ rvsb/ opther crap... all of which, i could use paypal to do.

Cmon, you'll NEVER find a agp x8xt for that price.

Will be geeting a new computer in the first week of june no matter what "x19gt/ asus TOP 79gt co" cause its about that time for myself to upgrade.

Cmon, its worth it, both are ends.

Well.. I ended up getting a SAPPHIRE Radeon X800GTO.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102608

I would love to move to pciX, but that would mean a new mb, a new cpu AND a new video card. Don't think I will be getting that for under $200 :P
