Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Yeah, Special Ops Forces in Iraq/A-stan and South America... The SA part I'm talking about is when you see the pics when the song, 'Let the Bodies Hit the Floor' starts.
M240 with M2 on a hummer ftw.

Its not that bad. Most of them are just wearing regular IBA with either MOLLE attachments or a LBV over their IBA.
When I was in Iraq, our commander made us do pushups with IBA on...now that starts to suck when you hit about the 20th rep...
As for the weather, yeah it was gay. 130 in the day and it would get down to 65 at night.

It really depends on the mission but it is usually 60+

IBA weighs 16 pounds by itself, and the two plate inserts weigh around 5 lbs. A tactical vest can weight around 6-8 lbs if I remember correctly...but it all depends on what type you put on also.
For equipment, basic shit:
7 mags... 6 on you're body 1 in you're gun. Med pack (its the size of a canteen...lots of goodies for quick emergency care), camel bak...not too many people use canteens anymore. Flashlight, chemlight sticks, NVG's (if mission requires it, but since most convoys and missions are run at night because of the curfews, lots of people have them).
Of course, thats just a basic loudout.
If you are a SAW/m240/40mm guy..sucks to be you. Have fun carrying all that extra fuckin ammo.

Dam that sounds seriously harsh, even for people in superb shape. Not to mention its all in 100+ weather.
btw... Im curious, most of the mags are on the vest right? So in the chest area? What happens if a mag gets hit with shrapnel or a bullet? Does the ammo inside ever go off?
Fri May 19, 2006 11:46 am
I've never heard of that happening. But, if the heat was great enough from the shrapnel, I COULD see it igniting the rounds.
A buddy of mine, his convoy got hit with an IED and I know the .50 cal ammo started exploding cuz it was on fire.
