Ok I think I might understand what Mugzy said.

"He got a chance to put his PSU in. He went to take out his CPU fan so he could put some thermal paste on his CPU. He got his new PSU in but when he reached for the paste he could not find it. So now he is stuck on waiting to get thermal paste for his CPU."

Is that close Mugzy?

I have used a few cases where it was not possible to remove the power supply without taking the cpu fan off first.

Just rub some dirt on it and get back out there.

P.S. I think you should still ban Allah since your rig wasn't running last night!

Yea, my huge ass cpu fan has to be removed before the psu can be taken out.

Once removed, you need more thermal gunk.

You don't need very much thermal paste for a CPU... Unless you already wiped it off, you should be good to go. Thermal paste works best when applied sparingly.

Well, since I thought I had paste, i thought a fresh coat would be good.

NOTE: if you plan to put new thermal paste on your heatsink, make sure you have some before cleaning the old stuff off! :D

My 2 Cents:
I had to get a new power supply for my current setup. my Antec 450 was not enough. Well it should have been, but my system kept crashing. My Neo2 Platinum AGP MB required a better power supply in that the +12V Rail needed a higher "guaranteed" rating. I bought a Mad Dog 500W PSU with a Guaranteed 12V rail of 30AMP. My system has had no problems since I installed this PSU whereas it was constantly rebooting in 3D games and I only had an ATI 9600XT.

As Wesley pointed out what counts is the 12V Rail. Many PSUs are not robust enough in that regard.

Look for a guaranteed 12 V rail rating otherwise it could be a crap shoot.

I've never had a more stable computer, and powersupply is part of it :) Cource you could buy new computer for the price of it...

Guess it was the power supply.

Stuff runs much better now.
