Yeah Wesley's right bout the 12V rail. There's more and more demand being put on the 12V these days. Most new board designs are using the square 4-pin 12V connector to power the CPU (through an onboard converter) so there goes 8 to 10 amps right there. And all the graphics cards are using a drive power connector for their primary power supply, which only has 5V and 12V it, so i'de suspect they're using mainly 12V there too. It's definately best to have a power supply that can provide close to (or above) 30 amps on the 12V rail. There's several supplies available with multiple 12V rails that combined can provide around 35A, that's definately the way to go.
Just be careful when toying with getting a dual rail PSU. I purchase and installed a highly respected brand that had dual rails and my X2 3800 and SLi 6800gt's killed the PSU in about a month. This is usually cause with the ratings on the dual rail they tell you the combined Amperage its rated at, but they split the amperage between the 2 rails. So if you get a dual rail PSU rated at 30A, then usually its split something like 12V-1 = 14amps \ 12V-2 = 16amps. and usually rail 1 is designated to your 21pin MB connector, and then all the rest of the power connectors are on the other rail. This gives lots of leeway amperage for the CPU and MB, but if you got a high end GPU or SLI thats where you could run short on amperage on that other rail.
So dual rail PSU's are good for some system setups and not so good for others.
BTW does anyone know of any sites that have listed amperage draws for different computer parts?
