I think oliver stone is one of the most overrated directors out there. Like you i figured the 'ooh isn't oliver stone so good' machine would have died after the unreasonably shit alexander.

I wont be seeing it, mainly because its clearly propaganda, isnt it a convient time for it to be released? And it is directed by Oliver Stone , who destroyed Alexander, it could have been such an epic, of course the film company are calling it one, but the only good bits in the that film were the battles. Pls WTC is not my sort of film.

it bothers me for some reason that they're choosing to make a movie about such a horrible thing. It's not like we need to be reminded of it and it'll probably just harbor even more hate. though hollywood seems to love focussing on bad shit. i suppose tragedy sells at the box office though and the movie executives know that....the bastards.

Well they have made films about pearl harbour, WW2, the Battle of Britain and many more tragic events where many more have died than 9/11 so thats no reason. The problem is its only 5 years after the event, meaning it was being made 2 maybe 3 years ago, which is bad. Also its being relesaed at a time when Bush is the most unpopular he has ever been and support for the war in Iraq is at its lowest.

Oliver Stone may have made a long line of really crappy, bloated movies, but remember this: he made 'Platoon'.
If you haven't seen it, rent it! One of the top 3 or 4 war movies of all time IMHO. Not a 'fun' war, or 'oh doesn't war look like a big adventure' type of war movie, but 'holy jesus I hope to god I'm never in a war' type of movie. It's a very hard feat to pull off. It's actually hard to watch in some parts.
