Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Exactly! ;)

He can make as many crappy movies as he wants after that wonderful film.

Well they have made films about pearl harbour, WW2, the Battle of Britain and many more tragic events where many more have died than 9/11 so thats no reason. The problem is its only 5 years after the event, meaning it was being made 2 maybe 3 years ago, which is bad. Also its being relesaed at a time when Bush is the most unpopular he has ever been and support for the war in Iraq is at its lowest.

Stone (regardless of how good/bad the movie is) would never make a propaganda movie to help prop up Bush. Seriously, he'd gouge his own eyes out before he'd do that.

It's not a great choice of director if you ask me. The guys built a career out of making jumpy conspiracy movies, When I heard he'd made a wtc movie that's what I was expecting and that would be in very bad taste. As it is you can make the film as honest and as heartfelt as you like but it won't change the fact that it's reason for being made is to make money of what for most is still a very raw wound.

Either that or he wants to make a WTC conspiracy movie. Either way, I don't plan on seeing it.
As an afterthough, he made another good movie early in his career: 'Salvador' with James Woods (awesome actor) and Jim Belushi. Good movie covering a complex subject from the 80s that most sane movie makers would have avoided like the plague.
His documentary on Castro was very interesting as well.

James Woods on the other hand is one of the most under-rated actors imho...

Salvador is one of his best, it's him in his fast-talking, slightly sleazy but overall good guy type of role.

I know all of you are saying that it is too early to make a movie about 9/11, etc. And I would probably agree mostly to that. From what I can tell from the trailer (I dont know a whole hell of a lot about this film) is that it is more about the survival, courage and personal lives of 2 NYC cops and less about the 9/11 tragedy as a whole.
