Graphic settings for RTCW

Postby Doug the Unforgiven » Wed Apr 09, 2003 3:02 pm

Last night I jacked my graphic settings back to High Quality while I was playing on the beach, and, of course, it looks great.

So here's my question: why does the game decide later to do whatever the hell it wants with the graphics? My computer can more than handle the settings. It even turned the particles off on it's own (after I had turned them back on for the nice effects). It seems random, but happens often enough to get really annoying.

Does anyone know why it does this? Does anyone know how to stop it? Anyone? I would love for my settings to stay what they are from day to day and not have to constantly readjust them to what I want (and what I KNOW my computer can do). Any clue?

Yeah Doug, the reason is that RTCW saves a list of your past settings, known as the "wolfconfig_mp.cfg" file. This file is generated every time you enter a new server, and there is an original inside the "Main" folder (for when you play with yourself ie; host your server). So for instance to solve your problem, you would have to delete the "wolfconfig_mp.cfg" file that is causing your settings to revert to what you dont want them at. This could either be in the "Main" folder, or in the folder that ECGN created for you, under "Shrubmod" or "Shrub" or "Shrub3.01" (I forget which exect one.

So long story short, delete the "wolfconfig" files, in the shrub mods, and change your settings again, then it should be saved.

Thanks, Cid. I'll give it a shot (if I can get off my lazy ass and just do it:D )

BTW, would I have to reset my binds also when doing this?
(sorry, I'm a bit of a computer tard)

Yes and no. If the binds are saved in your main wolfconfig_mp they will be safe if you only delete the shrub mod wolfconfig_mp.

Ok, sorry to get tiresome here, but do I delete those folders as well? (the folders sh, shru, shrub, shrubm, etc.?) or just the config files in those folders?

so can I do this without removing all that other stuff? and have it overwrite the config everytime still? Since I'm a bit of a tard I'm a little paranoid about removing stuff.

Sorry to drag this out. I really have appreciated the feedback, guys.:)

Doug,

Since you are paranoid about removing stuff, do what I do.

Rename it ...add..... .bak or .sav or something similar to the end of the file name. This way if you did something wrong, you can always just rename the file again to its original name. :)
