Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

As penance, he could release a directors cut DVD of 'The Passion of the Christ', complete with hilarious goofs and outtakes.

I don't see why what anyone says to the police should be released to the press. That said it's ridiculous that he gets off scott free for what ios a really fucking stupid and irresposible thing to have done. To have been driving while that drunk.. He could easily have killed someone.

I do nto think he got off. He was arrested and released on bail, $5,000. He is pending trail.

Anyone see, the backlash begins:

I don't really have anything constructive to add to this thread. I've been drunk and done some REALLY stupid things. Hell, we ALL have done things we would NEVER do when we were sober.

Should he get a pass? I don't know. But it's not like he said this stuff while sober like so many people do - from public figures down to the average Joe.

OOOh a $5000 fine. He'll have paid that off what 5 minutes after writing the cheque...

That's hitting him where it hurts.

I don't care what he said that just makes him look like an idiot it doesn't really harm anyone else. Drink driving is fucking retarded though. It's not like he's short of a few quid to spring for a taxi. Hell if he had asked he could probably have got 10 people from the bar to carry him home on their shoulders. There is never a good excuse for drink driving IMO. If you are going drinking don't take your fucking car. If you took your car make sure to give someone else the keys after the first drink so you don't do anything stupid.

There are too manymorons that think the worst thing that can happen from a DUI is that you they get caught. These people need a good sound kicking in the balls.

So you all have drove drunk? Like he was doing. Who cares what he said. How in the hell does a person with that much money decide that the only way for them to get somewhere when they are drunk is to drive. His actions make him a dumb ass and not his words. I wonder, how many people have been killed by words. And how many have been killed by drunk drivers. It is amazing how one comment can over shadow the real problem here.

added- Damn Parrot be me to it. :D

i'd say his actions make him a douche and his words re-enforce it.

Because he has money he should pay more? He needs to be treated like any other dumb fuck who gets caught drinking and driving. Only reason it's a big deal is because he has money and is famous. Who cares!!! As if none of you have said anything to offend someone. It's really dumb. I say dumb shit all the time in vent. Parrot picks on me for being American and I pick on him for being Euro trash, no offense here. What's the difference?

What more can they do to him? 50 lashes? He will go to court and get convicted of DUI and have his license suspended for 6 months to a year. Pay 3K in surcharges plus additional lawyers fees. (At least that is the fines in NJ, not sure in CA)
What he said is totally stupid and uncalled for, he must have been really drunk. I know I have said and done some really regrettable things when very drunk. Unfortunetaly, I don't think they can punish him for those remarks. Unless they want to pursue that and slap him with a public profanity or nuesense (sp?) fine.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Most of the studio heads are Jewish I believe, I wonder how far they would be willing to go (as in losing a bankable movie star) to fight back.
