Wash [as Allosaurus]: I think we should call it "your grave"!
Wash [as Stegosaurus]: Ahh! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
Wash [as Allosaurus]: Har har har! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die!

Interesting, some of the insiders were saying how Scowcroft and company competely regard Bush jr. with utter contempt--on and off the record.
It does seem so much like the Daddy sending his pissed off, retired handymen to bail out the snot nosed kid that they can't stand, but are willing to do it for Daddy.

Now they lost majority in the Senate too.
Let's hope the Patriot Act and the Torture Act get repelled tomorrow morning. Next: an inquiry on Cheney and Haliburton's real role in starting the war? OhpleaseOhplease.

Nothing that the US can do will fix Iraq. I had a feeling this would happen in the beginning, not as bad but I knew it wouldn't be anywhere near smooth. Rumsfeld, Bush, and the US aren't to blame for the failure, they are too blame for not being ready for it to fail. Iraq has to want a democracy, and they just can't keep control of their own people. But remember it took us nine years, and a second drafting before we even righted the ship. Our country also wanted a democracy and tried fully to make it work. In Iraq's case it wont be this easy. Just because Democrat's have taken control of the house and senate, they won't be able to fix Iraq. It will just be how bad they can make Bush look. It will get bad.

Chacal, you don't live in the US and you don't like the Patriot Act? I seriously haven't been able to understand people's problems with it.

Well, it's not MY personal liberties that get trampled by it, but our own canadian shady law-enforcement agencies took it as an example and are now trying to bypass the judicial system too.

The loss of your civil liberties is a tragedy far more serious than 9/11.

I live in the US and agree the patriot act while good in some aspects still is not in the true meaning of America. I personally have nothing to hide but I don't want someone double checking everything I do.

I am a US citizen (born in the USA).
For one, it violates my constitutional rights. 'Nuf said.

Please the Patriot Act is only a threat to your liberties if you're flagged by law enforcement for being naughty. They aren't going to spend money and resources on somebody for no reason. They're backlogged as it is, you really think they would waste their time with you? By the way, what "right" does the Patriot Act violate?

And torture? I guess the west has no idea what torture actually is. While our methods are not meant to be pleasant they are not what I would consider torture. You won't get any information asking them nicely. I find it funny that what we do gets a lot of flak but nobody is concerned about how our opposition behaves. If you were truly enraged by the torture of a human being you wouldn't be so quick to denounce counter-terrorism. Shouldn't these guys pay for their crimes against humanity? You really don't care. It's just a political vehicle for you.

It looks at what books you borrow from the library, it records where you go on the internet. It looks and violates what the founding fathers wanted you to have and keep. Unwarented searches.

So you think "no problem" we lose a liberty or two from 9/11 next thing you know theres attck on 3/10/09 and the authorities say that if they had these additional "laws" it could of been prevented... So we give up those rights/freedoms and a in 15 years theres another attack. and we give up more. so on and so forth.

No one wants there fellow americans to die

republican, democrat, independent, green, etc etc..... as the cartoon or comic used to say "WHO KNOWS WHAT EVIL WHAT EVIL LURKS IN THE HEART OF MEN?"
you can't prevent everything.. So theres no reason to give up everything in the idea that it can help prevent all bad things.
