thats why i dont play on oc48 anymore. No fun, running f rom beach everytime only to get exploded by 30 axis that have the MAIN advantage of any allie.

Whos idea was this to keep/try this map anyways?? Was it someone who hardly ever plays and was self centered and just wanted things there way?? Thats fine if thats the case just keep in mind the people who actually plays on the this server.

Is it possible for the server to hold more players than 64?........if so that would be awesome.
would it cause more lag?

nowadays is not possible, I think, it would requires a DSL, cable or faster like connection to make it working... If with 64 players the game runs slowly even when a DSL modem i don´t think what would happen with over 64 players or even 128 players!

Amaryl, its an oc48 backbone, which makes dsl seem like stoneage. True OC48 is capable of 1.5 gigabytes per second I beleive. either way, thats where the name OC48gaming came from. also nicely said lazer, I've been playing on this very server for atleast 8 months and i think I joined here on the forums in september, So I should know better then someone who never plays, and heck I'm not saying I know all. Some should know better then I, you've probabily been around a while too. I have a year of this came under my belt maybe a little more and I'm still not sick of good ole' oc48 24/7 regular beach, the very best server ever for this game. Even kicked xian's server's ass and Xian works for ID software.

Having played the map a bit more, I still haven't really fallen in love with it. I mean, it is still an okay map but I just can't get into it.
It feels too cluttered and has more geometry than it should. Also, I am not sure why, but I get no sense of accomplishment. When my team has blown up/defended the radio. It's just big deal. If we disarm a dynomite, so what. Kill an ally/axis, ho hum.
On the original Beach you get that feeling as if you've really done something if you disarm the dynomite or taken the docs to the Radio room. I also get that feeling in the pit of my stomach when you're holding the documents and running with your team on the catwalk pushing your way through tons of Axis to get to the Radio room. This new map hasn't done that to me once.
I don't think this new Beach is a permanent change anyhow. Although, I hope the original Beach is put back on soon.

I love fun beach!!!.
There are so many places to run and kill and be killed!
Old beach was just getting old. I need variety though too much of one thing just gets lame.

i've been playing this game for 4 months used to play quake, and i agree with the same maps getting old, but in perpective i like the old beach, but like old beach there is still only 5 or 6 peeps going to the docs/radio room. i agree with all your guys points they area all valid, it's just personal preference, but it comes down to the server owner, they decide what maps they want to play, on that note just gib on and enjoy the FREE ride

couple points:
I like fun beach, but i realized last night that the map reallly sucks if you have teammates that either have no skill or dont know what they are doing.(or both)
I also have realized that while outside, there seems to be lag.
I know because my accuracy has been taking a dive ever since ive been playing on it. I usually get 35 percent or over. Now its hard to even get 30 percent. That 5 percent makes a big difference believe me. I know it isnot just lag on my computer, it seems to be everyone's accuracy is going down.(even the snipers). when I look at my total accuracy rankings on the web site, my actual accuracy is going down but my accuracy ranking is going up. this tells me that even though my accuracy is going down everyone else's accuracy is taking a hit too. Im assuming this is coming from the map having so many textures outside. The problem is either that the map makes everyones pc lag outside or the server is suffering some hardware lag.
lastly, about the ecgn guys. the only ecgn guy that i see play there is that man-at-arms guy. Im assuming he made the call to start playing fun beach a lot. you guys shuld maybe address him about it.

i like this map... especially for snipping but indeed because the map is so big you can see immedialty who are the no-skills guys are don't know what to do...
i played two games on axis (were only about 12 oplayers that time) and both games i was sniper and i just made a run to the allies landing crafts and from there i sniped everyone in the back... and NOBODY even turned around to see where it came from... i was just there sitting on that boat making myself and easy target but they let it be... peole hidding behind a wall still getting sniped and don't realise that it coms from the back ...

i just don't get it but i got a nice kill ratio cause i only died once...
but further i just LOVE fun beach... it is fun, it is realistic,... especially the second one cause with the first one there wheren't enough entrances to the base really...
allies would easy win if they wouldn't always go for the spawn flag but more for the radio equipement... cause that's the only obj.

i know what your sayin Laser, but we have told them most of us dont like it as much as old beach, and it still hasnt changed, so ultimately it's thier choice that all i'm aying i'm not trying to be an ass or anything

I don´t know what kind of computer uses to keep he server working,he, i really would like to...
I heve playing this server from october and i prefer the fromer beach map, since the map size / nº of geometries is well balanced, since this map is so big, including a wide open area, too enough, this slow down playibility, even in some powerful machines, I have been making levels for both quake 2 and 3 and i know when someone overuse the engines capablities, I just tried to load the map without connecting a server and minimun settings and I get slowdowns on the upper wide open ground...

ok people, that's not thru... i've only 1.96 NORMAL ram, only 650mhz... and i live in belgium so i've a bad ping...
and i have NO problems running this map... even less then playing the old beach with all the airstrikes...
i've games with 60% accuratie where i killed about 9 Running people... from the other side of that LONG map

and you can't do that with lag...
i must say it IS thru that sometimes you get a "lag punch" or how it's called and then the game stucks for a seconds and then just continues normally...
