Fun in the snow today

So get up at 7, get all bundled up, put gas in the snowblower and it all leaks right out..... so i figure either my 20 year old blower has a hole in the tank or maybe something came loose or god knows what. Not knowing what the problem might be and wanting to get the driveway partially cleared for the wife to take the kids to school, I decide to man up and clear the foot of heavy wet snow the old fashioned way.

Holy crap that kicked my ass, and halfway through, the shovel starts to separate from the handle. Now its a real bad day, as the other shovel is a weak ass piece of crap.

So i finally finish, goto Lowe's buy a new shovel (had like 5 left and a 90% empty aisle) apparently i wasn't the only one here in the CHI burbs that needed a shovel.

Get back, fire up the propane heater, get the garage nice and toasty, and goto work on the blower. SHEESH!!! I should have looked earlier, damn hose had come off the bottom of the tank. Simply unscrewed the big plastic cover (10 screws), re-attatched the hose, secured it with the a pressure thingy, and screwed the cover back on. DAMN!!! That would have saved my back and about 45 mins too.

So later went back out, did the back walk, patio and the elderly ladies driveway next door also. Wore so many layers my t shirt was saturated. I wrang it out and got a couple drips it was so soaked.

Oh well, lesson learned there. Thankfully so more snow in the forecast for the next 4 or 5 days anyways...

Sheesh, i think i would have taken a closer look at why it was leaking before doing "physical" activity. As you said lesson learned, and probably for the better seeings how you got a couple weeks worth of exercise out of it. lol

I wish my area would get some damn snow. I want to go skiing more than anything right now. Mt. Baker in Washington already has 12 feet of snow and slopes are open 100%. I am jealous, very jealous...

I use a Ford 660 Tractor with front end loader to clear snow.

No, that a couple of years ago.

At the end of the driveway where I am piling the snow is an island. Sometimes I will push all that snow on the island together and make a fort for the kids. The walls end up about 10 feet high when we have alot of snow in a year. Make for a hell of a fort.
