9 Pro Bowlers? Well, have a good frikin time in Hawaii, losers. Enjoy the sun.

Only one monkey-dance from Steroid-boy. Well, he'll have plenty of time to practice his show-boating...and possibly find better masking agents for next year's choke, er...ahhh...run.

Ouch Zog! I'm glad for the win, but let's face it, the Chargers were throwing the Pats all around that field. Thank god for one amazingly bone headed play (the headbutt) and one heads up play (Troy Brown stripping the ball after it was intercepted) or we would not have even had a chance.
Patriots never quit though, and when they get a lucky break they make the most of it.

The Patriots always manage to pull it off don't they... bastards!!

:D :D

I honestly felt Rivers was out-playing Brady...and there were times when I thought the Pats offense was pathetic.

But it's all about making the plays, and keeping your cool and the inexperienced Chargers let their hormones dominate their actions.

And Schottenhiemer throwing that challenge flag on so obvious a fumble?? Apparently he felt they wouldn't need the time-outs. Tell that to their poor kicker.

It boils down to respect. The Chargers didn't respect the Pats; from Merriman's epilyptic fit "Me-Me-Me" dance to ESPN basically handing the Charger's the game.

Every team learns eventually. The Pats have had their share of heart-breaks. I feel bad for Marty Schottenheimer and to some extent LT, but you got to take your lumps to earn respect.

Congrats on the Pats win. But do you think the Pats showed any respect with the celebration after the game?

Sun Jan 14, 2007 10:45 pm

They didn't do anything that 90% of the league does with wreckless abandon.

What the Patriots were doing was mocking the self-promoting, chest-beating antics of the Chargers' disrespectful players. How many of the Patriots are known for a specific dance routine they do after a play? Zero.

As far as I'm concerned the Patriots aren't "sexy" enough for all the pundits out there, so they're constantly counted out.

The Pro-Bowl means zilch. The playoffs are what makes people remember you.

Talk after the game, not before it.

Zog your wrong about the Charger's being disrespectful, I'm a Patriots fan after the Eagles and a huge fan of BradyBelichickBall but the Chargers don't celebrate. LT in my opinion the best player in NFL history doesn't do endzone celebrations besides flipping the ball or maybe spiking it. Merriman is possibly the best defensive force in football and simply celebrates to get his team fired up like Ray Lewis. Chargers have class no matter what you say. Ok people loose their cool at times, but seriously the Chargers are not known for stuff.

Now I can't wait for Brady/Manning.

While the choreographed celeberation routines some players have are not classy, the intent of those celebrations is not to specifically make fun or embarrass another player. The intent of the New England players was to embarass Merriman. 90% of the league do not mock other players in the manner New England did. What the Patriot players did can be compared to T.O.'s disgracing the Dallas star when he was a 49er.

Most of us gen x'ers dont mind the dances, I always thought they were funny to watch and i encouraged it. Remember the Rams about 6 years ago had the little dance, i forget what they called it.

I always thought if the other team gets offended when they dance.. DONT LET EM SCORE!!!!!!

Yeah let the brady/Manning hype begin.

cough cough, dont forget about my bears.

I would have preferred that the Pats not do that kind of thing, it runs counter to their character.
I agree, Belichick will be talking to some players afterwards.

I think also things are different during the playoffs. During the regular season a game is a game, no big deal. Rivals can have a little fun with each other. During the playoffs I think respect should start entering the picture. Your not just improving your record, you're ending the other team's season, their superbowl dreams are over. It's better to tip your cap to them for being a worthy competitor, for being division champs and such, and for giving you a run for your money.

What percentage will Rex Grossman use to prepare for the NFC chmpionship game? :D :P ;)

Mon Jan 15, 2007 8:24 am

NOooo... not the Pats AGAIN. :)
Obviously the Pats are great and deserve to be there but enough already! 3 superbowl rings in 4 years aint enough, eh? Bah, Eagles shoulda beatin 'em 2 years ago!
:D <still sour over that one>
I wouldn't mind a Bears vs Colts superbowl this year.

Merriman is a fool. He got man-handled by Matt Light who, I believe, has never been to a Pro Bowl and has never cheated.

I'll admit it's a bit disrespectful for the Pats to do that, but I don't think it's the whole team doing it, and I certainly don't believe it's Belichick telling his team to do it.

LT might be a classy guy, but he's a bit of a simpleton, too. His end-game rant knocked him down a few notches in my mind. If he has issues with being pissed at the Patriot players, then it wouldn't bother me a bit, but don't be an ass and take a shot at their head coach just because you lost.

I was amazed at how well Matt Light handled Merriman! There were a few plays where he pancaked him!!
Thank god we have a contract with him through 2010. Imagine (with all the hoopla around Merriman) if Light were going onto the free agency market today. He'd be fetching a pretty high price after yesterday's performance.
