It looks like those poles protect some sort of 'bus and taxi only' zone. Is that accurate Parrot? Perhaps some towns relieve traffic congestion by only allowing busses and taxis in the town center? If that's the case then these people are just trying to cheat the system.

They should test that against an old Volvo, it would smash that pole. You could crash an old volvo into a building and the building would come off worse.

Yeah it's cos the toen centre is officially pedestrianised and has no traffic except for buses (and trams in manchester where that video was from i think) which are exempt. they are bloody obvious IMO. Maybe if you are tailgaiting a bus closer than you chould you might not see them but if you have left a reasonable distance it shouldn't be a problem.
