Fuck being professional when that means tiptoeing around the truth. Those kids deserve a decent start in life and to know the values that are gonna keep them safe and out of trouble for the rest of their lives. If they grow up thinking that shit like that is acceptable then they are gonna end up doing time or worse. In the long run it's better do do the little harm of shaming her into realising the effect her actions are gonna have on her kids than being all nice and polite and letting her fuck up their chances.

Since when was it a judges responsibility to be nice to people. So long as the sentence they pass is faithful to the law they can say whatever the hell they want. Can't see how it makes them unprofessional.
