Uploading RTCW to the school network.

Tue Mar 06, 2007 10:10 pm

Ok i have plenty of time in my 2 hour classes at high school when i get ahead and so bored that there is nothing to do. Therefore,

Does anyone know how or if its possible to take RTCW files and the game transfer them to a drive then transfer onto a school network? People have transfered other smaller games and such, also i think i would used some banned cd key that my friend has so that can't play on internet but could play LAN.

Don't worry about me getting expelled im a sneaky bastard, just wondering if anyone knows how. Thank you:wall:

you would have to get an admin password, those files especially big as wolf would need to be installed with an admin password, remember all the high school computers like mine I graduated from in '90, are running on a main server, where the emails are, the internet, and all the good stuff like grades, if you managed to get the software uploaded, it would be a matter of 10 minutes for the admin to find it, usually there is huge security systems in place, not as easy as your good ole fueller's bueller day off, or even wargames "like to play a game???"

Slaughter

But I'm sure other peeps will let you know other ways if there is any, a good way would be do a ghost hd on the server, but yet more security issues, might get you banned opps kicked out of school in all the tri state area

I have a teachers log in.. and the school is hooked up so everyones comp sees a drive called goodies and im thinking if i just put the game inside a folder called like English Project or some bullshit like no one would notice!

Your probably right though.. prolly not a good idea.. i would have to do it like secretly and on a computer i don't normally use so they can't trace it. Those bastards at school don't let us have any fun.. sigh ill keep at it. Probably a firewall or some shit on it too

Hehehe, Can you imagine the consequences if they found out it was you? I'm saying wait the 8 hours panting, and sweating, and be a good boy. Play your war games at home! Besides you're like that crazy screaming German boy when you get killed. I doubt Mr. Goodbar in fifth hour will appreciate your F bombs.

I don't mean for internet play.. i would never put my cd-key onto a school computer network so everyone would have it. Im talking about a lan thing or something during school, it would be fun!!!!!!

Back in undergrad (early 90's) my buddies and I had some incredible multi-player game play with DOOM on a LAN in one of the university computer labs. This was way back when there were (virtually) no security restrictions, firewalls, etc.

It took quite a bit of tweaking just to get DOOM to play on the LAN, but man was that fun. First FPS game I ever played multi-player...

You should be able to just copy your Return to Castle Wolfenstein folder onto a USB thumb drive or something similar and run it right off of there, assuming they have video drivers that have 3D support on their computers, and that the school doesn't have any application monitoring software running. In other words, there really isn't any need to permanantly install it onto the computer. Punkbuster probably won't work right in a limited account, but you should be fine if you turn it off or limit yourself to single-player.

That's what I would try anyway. When I was in school I used to load games onto my TI-89 calculator. Became an Othello master before mid-terms :)
