Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

I doubt very much it was the eye patch. My 9 yr old can't bring anything even resembling a weapon to school, even for Halloween. He had to do a shadow box of Daniel Boone and had to cut out a picture of a rifle. Weapons are a no joke in school. As it should be.

He should have just said he had eye surgery.

Yeah god forbid you should actually teach kids how to responibly deal with weapons. You should totally let the TV teach them, because telelvision has such a responsible attitude to that sort of thing.
What's the point of banning toy weapons from school when the kids home to play tekken or watch tmnt?
And it was inflateable it's not even as if someone could get hurt by accident...

It's not the schools job to teach weapon safety 101. It's mine, school is not the place for weapons or baggy pants that show underwear. I came from a rough city where if you wore $150 sneakers you'd get the snot beat out of you or maybe shot. School is for academic education, not a blank canvas for self expression. Do that after school.

Ahhh the baggy pants, damn I hate those things, makes you look like an idiot.

I feel sorry for your 9 yr old that he had to have a "picture" of a rifle.. LOL that is the stupidist thing i ever heard. Poor kid.
Just another example that we watch way too much TV, especially the news, which only shows "dirty laundry".

10/4 on the weapons but why not baggy pants? Becasue you might be hiding weapons? Idiotic...
"I'm insane. I think I am going to massacre my schoolmates but oh wait I won't be able to hide a shotgun down my pants so I'd better call it all off."
It's the most nonsensical 'solution' to a problem I have ever heard. It's kind of like banning size 4 dresses and thinking that that's gonna cure anorexia or making free bar nuts illegal to combat alchoholism, match books illegal to comabat smoking. All this stuff does is piss people off...
Not everyone is a good mom like you chick. Just leaving it to the parents doesn't work when half the parents are as bad as the kids.
You want to combat this shit you could make a good start by instead of teaching kids in school not to have sex start teaching them how to raise a family. Stop looking for something to blame TV/video games and start looking for something to fix.

Metalshop? Gym? Pretty broad definition of academic you have there

When I was in high school they banned book bags, several students started carrying their books in 5 gallon buckets. Several guys started carrying purses for their books. Until they made everyone stop carrying purses too

Wait till someone smuggles a gun into school inside a hollowed out book. They'll probably ban books as well...

I remember when this happened to my friends kids around here. They would say thier son and all his schoolmates would have all these books loose in thier arms and they wouldnt be allowed to go to thier lockers in between classes anymore so they had to have the entire's day worth of books with them from the beginning. That is so stupid.. you can't assume everyone has a gun because of a couple isolated incedents among the millions.

If you were really determined you could probably beat a a man to death with a book anyway. Ban books! It's the smarterest thing to do! Before sumone gets hurted real badly!
