Well, when you say 'everything on high', do you mean you randomly cranked up every possible setting?

Anti-Aliasing?

What resolution?

Just because you get a decent card doesn't mean you can run every game at maximum settings.

What games? Doom3? F.E.A.R.? Those games will bring all but the super-high end cards to their knees.

PKrack, yeah whats the deal with everything on max settings? I suggest turning down Anti Aliasing to 2x. Also, maybe change dynamic light/shadows as those are more performance hits than eye candy.

Hell, I play BF on everything on low (except 2 on medium) and I don't mind :freak:

yeah I can play everything on high apparently (did it by mistake), but like porsche I turned it all down to low except for 2 or 3 of them (which are at medium).

but if you want to tweak your graphics an preformance of BF2 check this out,

http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html

it also has a bunch of links in there to tweak the graphics card and other stuff too. Might help to get your settings up.

Krack, what kind of processor do you have? AMD/Intel? model? And turn down some of that crap to med or turn your res down a bit.

If he has an nVidia card (and me thinks he does) he should try nTune. It's an nVidia based performance tuner designed for nVidia cards. It works more magic on nForce motherboard chipsets (especially recent ones). It takes 20 minutes or more to run, but it experiments with different FSB speeds, memory timings, GPU core speeds.

It can lock your machine up, but that's normal. Reboot (either wait for it to do so automatically) or do a hard resest. Once the machine starts again, it continues to tweak.

I gained quite a bit of performane on my (albiet brand new) high end system.

I described a lot here, don't feel like cutting and pasting, or typing it again.
