CoD4 server?

The bf2 servers have been dead for so long.

Hardcore is for corner campers and snipers that don't like it when people stab them in the back but prefer to snipe people the instant they appear at spawn when they are guaranteed not to fight back...

When I first played HC I thought it was going to be harder than the normal not a buttload easier which is what it actually is.

Once you get round the corner out of sight of the 10 enemy snipers that will be aiming at your spawn. It's just a question of sitting on the corner next to where the spawn camping snipers like to stand and mowing them down with your pkm. Hell you don't even need to aim because 1 or 2 lucky ass shots and they drop like a sack of spuds and as you are firing through the wall they can't even snipe you back...

then you jog round to a sneaky spot to reload and as there's no uav, for most of the game untill 5 idiots all call it at the same time, they won't see you untill you jog your chubby ass back out and start again with the spraying through the wall.

But yeah an "ecgn" cod4 server would be nice

I'm all for new servers. We have plenty of firepower. My only question is will they get used? Because Mugzy and I have spent countless hours setting up all kinds of servers that have then sat idle until we shut them down. Quake Wars, UT3, FH2, Insurgency, etc.

So if there's a need from ECGN players, yes, no problem. What's the COD4 player base? How many servers are already out there? How many regs here have the game?

I wouldn't mind seeing an ECGN CoD4 server, but only if people would populate it.

Perhaps setting up a poll would help in diversifying servers.

I play it, an i am sure I can get the SYN guys to help populate it if need be.

As long as its hardcore. FF is up to you guys. I prefir it off. Cause i tend to get killed by my teammates more then the opposing team with FF on.

The thing is, there are TONS of servers featuring vanilla CoD4 (FFA, TDM, S&D....)that are empty. Or you could look at the supply is outweighing the demand, whatever.

All I know is that there is this one free for all hardcore server that offers a 100 ping and is always full. Granted it's only 8 slots but i only play there, and i see a lot of what I would consider regulars.

As for FFA being for campers or corner watchers? Hey some people enjoy the "realism" that a game can offer. I enjoyed PRM for BF2 and even if it wasn't much of a hit anywhere I still love what Operation Flashpoint and Armed Assault. There is a small yet dedicated group of individuals who like a realistic gaming experience (or what can generalized as realistic).

If you go through with making a server I'd say offer a FFA hardcore. Most team based games get stacked quickly and there seems to be a lack of people using the VOIP within CoD4.

I play every day and really enjoy the game. I think it would be great to get a COD4 server running at ECGN. I think the ECGN/Syn guys will come back and play. I have always been playing the Domination Mode but recently I have been getting into the Search and Destroy game mode. Lots of fun. Unfortunatly I cannot find many COD4 servers that play Search and Destroy. So maybe a ECGN COD4 search and destroy server.

Chacal there is a lot of empty COD4 servers out there, so run a poll and see how many people would use it first. I am also a member of Shoot2kill gaming and we have found the best server is a pro pub with pam4 that uses cal rules and you might want to try a server with custom maps as well, another one is the gungame maps. So if you can get enough players by all means go for it because we have had great success with COD4 servers.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's the deal: you run the poll, gather up what guys want, then tell me what I have to do. Ideally with links to the server files and config information. I'll also need to know how power-hungry the thing is, so I can decide where to run it. If possible, I'll give you access so you can configure it yourself.
