A statement about the server

They gave everyone the same config when they made the game. If everyone played with a stock cfg (and to any wise mf'ers who say "wtf is a stock config warpig?", gimme a break, you know exactly what I'm talking about, it means that ANY changes can ONLY be made within the option menus) then I'ld get rid of my two minor changes.
"drawgun_0" and "r_intensity 2" being my only changes.

WTf are players like Glock, Paco's Gun amd The Show gonna give their configs to every player that visits the server

I'm Sick and fucking tired of bullshit shots that could never happen in real life. I know, I know it ain't real life but wtf come on. Let's keep everyone on the same playing field then we'll see where these players really stand.
I don't think that they would be standing too high considering that they needed to make these changes in the first place. Unlike someone like...hmm ME.

People are crying too much that it's hacks. I know it 's not hacks but it is definetly an unfair advantage, especially to the casual noob. OR maybe it is hacks idk, I know that demos get submitted and nothing ever comes of it..I respect the opinion of whomever they get submitted to as to whether it's hacks or not. But if they are hacks and nothing is being done then that would really suck but I don't think that is the case.

Let's keep the game real, that's what makes it the best game ever. It would also end all the hacking accusations.

To anyone who disagrees..save it, I really don't give a fuck to hear the same bullshit over and over and over,etc... I've logged more hours than probably ten of you combined, I know EXACTLY what is the normal operations of RTCW. And so does 90% of the people who play at the server. That's why you hear "BULLSHIT" so much.

i would like to know just exactly what config settings you think are giving them so much of an advantage. and can you tell me just how big that advantage is?

i can remember many rtcw oriented sites that had config repositories. tons of configs put up by all the good players and you can download them and use them yourself. and thats exactly what most people did. do you really think if you had glock's config you accuracy would be higher than 33% like it is now? im not trying to be argumentative, I am curious, because ive tried dozens of different configs and the shit is just not magic like you are making it out to be.

a while back a guy went in to spec to watch me because he thought i was cheating him. he starts telling everyone that I dont have to wait the whole time to throw my nades before they blow up. he said i could make my nades blow up at 2 clicks or whatever time i want them to blow up. so this guy is screaming "BULLSHIT" to everyone but really he is just an idiot. and i think the amount of idiots on the server is why you hear "BULLSHIT" so much.

like I said, When a handful of players are making miraculous shots nearly everytime then something is up. miraculous = magic imo.

Just today I was camped in a spot near the bottom of the radio stairs after I heard someone hopping down the stairs, before Glock came into view I was hit with a headshot that was instantly followed by two more, which seemed much faster than the normal rate. He was in view for the 2nd and 3rd shot. We were about 25' away from each other btw. Not too mention that he was in mid-air when he fired the second and third shot.
I can see something like this happening once a week maybe but nearly every single time, come on man, I scream bullshit all the time, because I feel 100% that something is up, this makes me an idiot?

Just play the game, do you think someone like Dogday is gonna figure out how to change his config. I'm almost positive that he can't even read or write in english. I love Dogday, he's a riot just to watch.

The people I'm hearing bullshit from are regulars who are very good players, players and admin pm me quite a bit. Some players choose not to shout bullshit globally, I could care less, I don't like getting fucked by others.
I would hate to think that ecgn assigns admins who are idiots, I know for a fact that none of them are.
If it's hacks then ban the fucking people otherwise the server isn't that much fun.

The config changes of FOV,firing rate,time nudge,etc...are ridiculous imo. not to mention changes that can affect the amount of damage taken.
Of course I know that these configs are available online, that's exactly my point, they never should have been. I'm not resorting to one, I think then it will be time to move on from RTCW.

In multi-player everyone should be using the option menus within the game solely.
I'm realistic, I know that nothing will ever change, damn it's hard enough to get rid of proven hackers.

I know that these are really two seperate issues but to me and from what I hear from many others, they are very close to being the same.

and, why would you keep a stock config if you see that everyone else tweaks within the cvar limits, to see better, aim better, move better.. why not do it yourself there are still sites to show you how to do it, redtop config shits still out there tons of links i know of.. you could end up playin like them within days..

Im not going to try to convince you of anything about some situation I was not a part of. Don’t worry. But I want to know what cvar tweaks you think could make his aim better while jumping through the air. I’ve played with him a lot, don’t think I’ve ever even talked to him, but I never really thought he hacks. Im a fan of demos though, record some demos while playing against him and show me some of the magic he does.

No, I don’t think he could figure it out. But I also don’t think he cares if sombody has a cg_fov 103 instead of 90 which comes stock.

Personally, I can’t see how setting FOV in the 90-110 limits of ECGN is anymore ridiculous than you setting your r_intensity to whatever you prefer. Mine is 103 I think because thats how I like it to look. Kind of the way you like the way your custom intensity looks. But I am the one who has a ridiculous setting, not you.

Firing rate? Oh you must mean r_shootfaster? No, wait.... ah you got me, that one doesn’t even exist! Seriously though, what are you talking about? I know some people say that setting your FPS to render 333 frames allows you to shoot/ move faster but that is not actually what is happening. Its more like actions get truncated if they cant fall on a frame. You don’t ‘skip a beat’ basically. And the default of 80 is a value derived from the level of the hardware 8 years ago. They have to set some value there, they chose 80 because they thought that was good for the majority of pc gamers at the time. If you have bought a computer in the past two years im sure you can get 333 everywhere on any map so you might as well do it.

Time nudge.. I’ve argued this before to death and im not going to again. Its not that helpful, its just not. If you don’t believe me try it out. Now, scripts that change rapidly chang your timenudge value could be exploitive but thats a step beyond being free to set the value you want.

Ah... yeah, DO mention that please. This sounds like Gamb talking here. His ‘unhittable hacks’ that he likes to accuse people of. If all setting were locked and equal, Gamb would bitch about how people have faster computers than him. If we then all had the same computers he would bitch about some people having better chairs that allow them to be more comfortable therefore having an unfair advantage. If we all had the same chairs he would cry about how some people smoke weed and that makes them better at the game than him deeming it unfair.


But really... forget about everything I just said because what I really think what you should do if you are truly upset about people having different settings is this:

List the settings that you think should be clamped tighter and give a REAL reason or opinion as to why it is 'unfair' or exploitive or borderline hacks.

A blanket statement saying that no one should change any settings that are not in the menu is not constructive and will go nowhere, seriously. The way you talk makes me think you don't know a whole lot about what they do, so why would you be the right person to listen to here? because you log a lot of hours? you state " I know EXACTLY what is the normal operations of RTCW" can you tell me off the top of your head what the rate of fire of an mp40 is? or a that of a Thompson? I know. Can you tell me how you are measuring other peoples ROF to know they are adjusting it?

I dont know what happened so I won't assume any explanations. but you have to admit some people do it because they're idiots, some people do it and they're right, some people do it when they think they're right but are actually wrong(not the same as being an idiot), and some people just do it to piss others off. OK I'm buying the fastest computer available today so I can tweak things to what the average player can't....yeah that's fair. As you stated "if you can get faster rates then you might as well do it".

and yes I can tell you what the normal ROF is, I know it by being shot at about ten million times over the last 8 years.

let's go back to what Glitch stated about getting a better cfg because many others had one. My point is the others shouldn't have been allowed the changes in the first place. It ruins games.

I'm not "all of a sudden" sick and tired of this. I've been sick and tired of this since day one.

As for my r-intensity, take a look at my recent xmas tree shot that was taken at the server, that's as bright as my screen gets. I did this because the game was made a little too dark to begin with imo. Comparing this to a fov change which allows you to see an enemy who would normally be out of view is bullshit...sorry but it is.

of course you like your field of view at 103, why wouldn't you, because of this change you now have a better view than anyone with a lower rate.
A noob ain't gonna have any clue about this. A lot of noobs would give up playing all together and I'm sure that many have.
So in a way YES it is borderline hacking.

A "locked" config setting for everyone is how it should have been from the start of mp.

My game doesn't need any drastic bs, you know this, I've played with you long enough. If there's a way to find out, I can guarantee that I've delivered and secured the docs more than any other player since I've come to ecgn. Winning the match has always been the highest priority to me over my KD ratio which would get askewed since I will revive a teammate even if I know that it means a certain death. I also have gotten the highest single game point score (365 if I remember correctly, any way of checking this then please do) that I've seen yet. Pretty fucking damn impressive for a guy that "doesn't really know anything about the game", good for most of you that I don't I guess then huh?

If certain players feel they need "extra help" so be it, my point is that a few are getting away with something that is going undetected and since it seems to be the philosphy around here that the game is on it's last breath so we'll overlook some things because it's one more player on the server....

This is probably one of the main reasons that pc games are dying and consoles are taking over, won't be any cfg changing on your Xbox360 or PS3.
This sucks because the pc is by far the best platform.

As for Gamb, I think he may have a case with his "un-hittable hacks", I've experienced it and so have many others. A 15 year old kid can hack into the Pentagon but they can't figure out how to fuck with an 8 year old game?

I would like to think that after what I've shown on this server over the last year and the previous 3 years at B2B, that I am stating a little more than just an opinion here.

One day away from a /uninstall. It's been great, I've had a blast being a major part of team victories of nearly every game I've ever played. And for much of that time, not one single cfg change and probably the slowest pc used today, an 866mhz.

Met a lot of cool people because of this game and seen a lot of bullshit too.

I have the best, fastest computer on the market today, and the best and fastest vid card out today, I never play stock...my RTCW is the ugliest you will ever see, I don't play for beauty on any game online, I play for what makes me comfy playing, I have to see better from far, thats why I use /wheelup fov 90 ................I have to have everything real bright, thats why why everything with light is set to 4, I hate to see my gun, I turn that off ........................, my point is what makes any fps game awesome, is you can taylor make it to your specific needs and wants, each server has limits, thats why we have PB ........................lots have to do with ping, and a good internet connection ask twitch about that ......................... some euros are harder to kill it seems with the higher ping, but game is still great, and its time war to see what you have been missing

That's a good point Slaughter, if people like pc games because they can change stuff then so be it BUT does that make it fair? Any and all change possibilities should have been able to be seen in the option menu(s). If you want the game to be more realistic, like I prefer, you can lower certain things. At least this way everyone who plays can see the possibilities from the very first time they hop on a server. Going into folders and changing settings...well you know what I think about that.

As for pings, I usually have one of the best pings on the server, averages about 20-30 most of the time. So as far as being killed by a player with a better ping, for me it is usually not the case. The "ping" issue is a little over-blown imo. People with higher pings kill me all the time.

I still feel 100% that a handful of regulars are up to no good and getting away with undetectable shit.(demos have been recorded and demos have been submitted and demos have been wrongly judged imo, no more fucking demos, they are useless these days and accomplishing nothing but wasting the time of the people submitting them).

As for "seeing what I'm missing", I don't want to see anything more than what your average "Dogday" is going to see.

imo FPS games are meant to be about COMPETITION mainly related to hand/eye coordination,reflexes,etc... not about ADVANTAGES from tweaks.

PS3/Xbox360 are looking better everyday. At least they are TRUE competition.

I'm sure that many are using the highest settings allowed. I want an explanation from, Glock, The Show and a few others as to why it is that theirs seem to work SO much better than all the others. The game's minimum requirements are a PII 400 pc so I don't really buy into the faster pc theory. My piece of shit 10+ year old pc is more than double the required speed to run this game. There's something more going on here with these players.

Glitch, hush Warpig has a point, and is clearly passionate about it. I understand what he's saying. If there were a server that limited all cvar tweaking, it'd be neat to see how everyone played.

My PC is awful. Awful. I have an FX5500 video card. It's ancient and it was a horrible card at the time. I can barely pull a stable 76 FPS n/m 125 or 333. Outside I get around 40 if I'm lucky. My tweaks help get me a better FPS, and I hear that can make a difference.

The FOVs and all that? Well I think it's advanced preference setting and I'm not sure it makes a huge difference. If you have a wider FOV you mgiht also have a harder time shooting things farther away. So it's a preference IMHO.

I know when I have changed things to try out a new setting there's a period of adjustment when I am (more) horrible (than usual). So I mean to say tweaking my cfg a bit (r_intensity 2 is one of my tweaks too, though I still play with the gun coz that's what I'm comfy with) does not turn me into automatic beast mode. It's just about putting a Saleen kit on this Mustang of a game. Just makes it mine - more comfy for me.

But I do feel cheated in that I never got anyone's great cfgs though I had to slog through RedTop's outdated cvar guide and tweak from there. So while I don't have n*'s cfg, I'm not sure it would help me that much anyway. Likely not be tuned to my machine, and certainly can't make up for my erratic play-style.

I have to say, I don't think Dogday (also my hero, Warpig) cares that I have global chats and brass turned off. I also don't think those types of things make me that much more likely to win a duel with Twitch or Fless.

I noticed the same things you write about. We all do. They like Glock etc... might be good but not that good naturally. There has to be some tweak because they seem to move faster and get headshots from one end of the map to the other. About 80% of the time I play nooblike. Then for some reason the other 20% of the time it's amazing like something clicks and all of a sudden I too start moving faster, everytime I aim high I get headshots, and I can kill 2 or 3 at one time. But I'm not playing different. I'm not doing anything different than I have for the past 6 years, but for some reason I can kill people really really easy.

When the hacks/tweaks/good players or whatever you want to call them get on i usually /discon or go spec because it definitely is BULLSHIT how they can kill with such impunity. They might be good but not that good.
