Custom resolution

Thu Dec 18, 2008 5:46 pm

Since i have a 22' widescreen monitor i play with 1680*1050 resolution.
Then i heard on server today it's not possible. LOL

How to
In your autoexec (or cfg) set this 3 lines:

seta r_mode -1 (turns off ingame settings)
seta r_customheight "1050"
seta r_customwidth "1680"

Then voilá - it's done!
If it somehow doesn't work, be sure to delete your wolfconfig_mp in the main and shrubfolder then start game and /exec autoexec.

Have fun with nice graphics!

ive been playing on a widescreen for so many years without the proper resolution set. somebody told me that you could do it but i never had the motivation to do it. Its weird because anytime i watch a frag type video of rtcw it looks so different to me. I just changed it and played for a bit and it seems like a completely different game. its like doorways are way too tall and the rooms seem so small. It also make me feel like I am moving way slower.

I only played for a bit but it seemed like every time i shot at somebody it was much easier to get a HS. it stretches player models bac up to where they are supposed to be and makes a bigger target. Or i guess it makes a taller, thinner target instead of a short, fat target.

now if only i could get a connection to ECGN that pings under 130ms id be straight. My ping is usually higher than yours shooter and I'm not very far away at all! Its been over a year and a half since ive had a decent connection. My routes to defenderhosting go all over the place. always.

Thanks for the info Shooter. I've been using a dual 9800 with the same res as you, but it wouldn't take right. It was the seta r_mode -1 (turns off ingame settings) that I needed.

NP Headshot, glad to help out.
Tell us what you think about your new view.

I figured this out a few weeks ago. It definitely took some getting used to, really threw my aim off at first. Whenever you dramatically increase or alter your resolution you might have to adjust your mouse DPI to compensate. Your aim will feel off until you get used to the change in screen real estate.

probability it would work on a 1920 x 1200?

Re: Custom resolution

It should work with any resolution your monitor is capable of displaying.

Just set it to the native resolution of your TV (i.e. 1920x1080) and use a DVI or HDMI connection.
