I don't mean to pick on the admins. For the most part, they're alright people and they do a good job of kicking the intentional tkers and necessary shuffles.

I really don't even mind if the server changes maps (if that's what the majority wants.)

I guess I was just getting frustrated with the 24/7 beach server never being on beach during prime time for about 3 months straight.

As for some responses.

I am thankful that this server is around and I have enjoyed it for many years. I truly appreciate MAA's exceptional leadership and dedication.

I feel like the admin mentality of, "I'm the admin and I do whatever I want. If you don't like it, do something else," is really bad for the server. Some admins obviously don't understand the meaning of majority. (3 out of 30 is not a majority.) Once again I have to give a shout out to MAA for showing restraint in this area. Thanks for not abusing your power.

Then you get the one guy spamming "new map" over and over until the admins think that it's a majority yelling for a new map. There's a reason this server has been around for SO DAMN LONG. And I'm pretty sure it's not because it rotates all night during prime time, then only goes back to beach once everyone is sleeping or working.

i cba to respond in true length, but I guess you should be happy MAA keeps the server the way it is since a lot of other players with Admin status wish it would have a consistent rotation. The point of the matter is that during prime time, most days of the week, the server is on beach. The few, horrible days you come on and it is on another map, you really get that upset?

And let's be honest, 40-odd players running around on beach makes it a shit quality to play with a huge amount of tk's, lotto nades, stupid camper noobs, and holding a team off with a/s galore. It is just not fun at that.

lol downy - im pretty sure this server is doing just fine when it changes maps during primetime and there are still 40-50 people on the server (just as many as it is when its beach...). Only time this doesn't happen is when some obscure map is selected that no one has downloaded.

Only time I change it. I never just do it out of the blue. Rotation usually starts after 9pm est. Kids are in bed and it's my time. But..I am asked first. No rotation at all last night. No one asked.

I am the admin and i can do what i want. This is my house and I have to keep my house in order. Admins do pm each other on what to do with players or map changes, shuffles etc.... We let each other know whats going on. Again..if you don't like the map rotation that the majority of the players have asked for then don't play. Don't join the server. You're probably hoping for "Oh shit,Downey has joined the server people,time to go back to beach". Won't happen so why bitch about it?:love:

I'm such a freakin retard I can't see the same name spamming new map over and over. Kinda like I can't spell !mute either when he is doing it. Ya know...rotations will happen, nothing you can do to change that. Again majority rules. Download the maps and come try something new, you may find one you like as much as beach. Games only gonna be around for a few more months. Then you can complain about something else.

If you haven't learned that yet, then you need to pull your head out of your ass or buy your own server. Honestly, if you using someone else's property, be expected to play by their rules or find something else to do. And lots of times, Chick, B, pooty, usually ask to see if anyone wants a map change. Heaven forbid someone goes "yeah! Sub!!!" and the damn server has been beach all day, expect it to change.

I would have to imagine you are wrong. Plenty of things can kill or make a server last. One moron on 1.33 decided to keep a lesser mod of a game going by trying to create his own shrub mod. It eventually took skill out of the game (Gamb, you know what I'm referring to) and killed the game. Just because the server is a beach only server doesnt mean shit. MAA has opted to run this server, put reasonable individuals in place as Admins, and kept a strong family of players and friends around to play on the server. Look at HP Depot. Do you think it's only because the map never changes? Grow up kid.

This isn't the correct thread to be debating this in. But that aside, Downey raised a valid point and I don't see any reason to bash him because you don't agree with him.

Regardless of the time of day, we will continue to occasionally switch maps...especially if the majority of the players on at the time request it.

I do agree with Downey though on the fact that the so-called admins are switching to other maps too much and should put Beach back on after playing a couple rounds of another map...not these 4 hour map sprees.

Well MAA its your job and your place of business so I guess its up to you for the final word. But I ask you to consider those that populate the server as well. There are pros and cons to both sides, and I think Downey over exaggerates his case. When the map is changed I usually only see 2-3 people asking to go back to beach(hardly a majority). On the other hand when map is changed there is always people that complain they dont like this map or that and suggest there favorite instead.

I have seen on more than 1 occasion when the server actually gets busier when maps are changed but I have also seen the reverse. Maybe just get some input on Ventrilo and get a bit more outspoken (your too damn quiet)

At the end of the day I think there is a good balance. And Downey maybe you should come on ventrilo when there are 15 people on all asking for a map change. It sucks when we dont get what we want when we want but thats just life unless your Paris Hilton

Damnit MAA, now my boner comment just makes me look odd without the post that was before it LOL. My 2 cents, granted I'm on later than most of you posters, but awhile back the server hardly ever left beach. With the influx of osp guys, and others, personally I felt obligated to change the map some due to their wishes. Btw..some old regs also like map changes. In my perfect world the map is always beach and everyone is happy but this does not exist. It all comes down to TRYING to make all happy some of the time which I'm sure all can tell is not easy. First and foremost the server life is the most important thing. Trying to keep up numbers by giving each player a taste of what they like. Finding the right balance is not easy but it seems the admins try. Don't be shy on the server, don't spam, but yell out for a change of map if it's what you want. I usually only change it myself when majority rules. See u all on the beach err..or wherever

MAA is it possible to make a vote for map changes? In ET, you can ask for a vote to change maps. Solves the whole problem in my opinion
