Re: Kicking for cl_timenudge -10?
For changing four settings on a server and to call it unplayable is ridiculous. Try having to play a completely different mod that gave crouching players the upper hand. If the only thing stopping you from playing wolf is settings then its a sad day, and you don't really value rtcw for what it is. For the most part my shots are registering better, and I can tell without the hitsound. Even though I like the new server settings I'm not going to boycott cuz it does not cradle to my every need. Less lag spikes, framerate drops contiune, but I believe it to be better than previous experiences. You seem to know alot of technical jargon. How bout putting some of our human capabilities to work and adapt, then again having a computer do the work for you is easier.
You have 333fps and I have 40-60 fps...
you're joking right?

My monitor is quite average 5ms so I can't hold 125fps even with 1 (9800GT) fully on certain areas when there are many people on the beach server or on certain maps. I suspect it's my Internet connection encountering so much traffic as well as my 100ms ping.

Have to say snaps and rate have more effect than timenudge ever will. I reserve the right to repost if i discover unlag has been disabled.

I have news for ya...Unlag has been enabled on the server for at least 4 years.
Settings aren't really any different than they were before. Honestly, I've seen no difference whatsoever...You're right though...in reality, restricting timenudge to 0 makes no difference. Snaps hasn't been changed at all. Shows ya what the power of suggestion and sheep mentality will do for ya.

So my less lag, increase in accuracy, is all an illusion?

It's prolly just the fps caps that make the server feels better atm.
Timenudge, ok -20 at max.
Mr.Happy, to make an example, (i saw him got kicked for -40 nudge) said his laptop with wireless internet made him need that much nudge. Well he sure doesn't have any problems hitting ppl now.
The r_depthbits, get it off, its a big exploit.
And for Blaster, my friend for a very long time.
Relax buddy. You had a good aim before, why shouldn't you hit now all of a sudden? It takes a few hours to get back to what it was. I know you can aim, we have played soooo many games, with and against each other. (PC , consoles etc)
I'm beeing jealous for the 333fps? Nah man, I can run 333 too, and you know that. Why would you even say that?
I just don't like the LAG it creates for those not using it.
I saw you got kicked from the server, and you never came back.
At least try the server before you start screaming that is "unplayable".
This is a TEST for a maximum of a week MAA said. Live with it and play.
Don't worry, be Mr.Happy ^^
I have too say it works smooth now, well its my opinion. I am pretty new too this game but still, last night was one of the best nights i ever played it was a totally diffrent gaming experience. I must agree and show my full support for SShooter´s action and the admins patient for doing this. Well i have choosen my stand. And for those ho complains. Re: Kicking for cl_timenudge -10?
Those of you who are claiming that your timenudge settings affect other's hit registration on you need to look into how timenudge actually works. That is impossible - it simply doesn't work that way.
http://forum.drc.su/yet-another-cl-timenudge-explanation-vt2301.html
Timenudge cannot make you harder to hit, and at extreme values will make everyone else look like they are warping around a little since your client is no longer interpolating between server packets smoothly. At numbers like -10 it can effectively lower your ping by eliminating time that your client would otherwise spend tricking you into thinking that it knew where everyone is at every given millisecond.

This is now a null and void argument as Man At Arms said, if you use anti lag on the server there is no reason to use timenudge.

Re: Kicking for cl_timenudge -10?
Arachnyd is correct in the way it works, except that there is a hard coded limit in the engine of -30 to +30. Values lower than -30 will just be given the value of -30.
If you recently had to change your timenudge to 0, this may account for the increase in accuracy you are seeing, even though you could have used 0 all along.

Re: Kicking for cl_timenudge -10?
While you'all are on this subject, I thought I'd throw in a question about registering 'Hits". How is accuracy measured? Since I get best accuracy a lot of the time, it seems there are two different levels of measurements involved. I can spawn, get into a wild jumping, shooting match with only one person (in an enclosed area, just me and him), and shoot 30 rounds. If I lose and respawn, it says I shot 45% accuracy. Obviously I put almost 15 rounds into this guy and lost. Are these shots not registering? Does Timenudge make no difference? Haven't you'all walked up behind someone, put a gun to the back of their head, squeezed of 3-4 rounds, and the guy walks away? I have a 50 ping, timenudge '0'. To say these settings make no difference is ludicrous........................

Re: Kicking for cl_timenudge -10?
When Blaster first was BLAMING ME, for HIM CHOOSING not to play anymore, i was going to give him a mouthful. But i didn't. Instead i, as so many times before, i tried to be nice. I actually responded giving him a compliment. (this is what friends do)
But now, Blaster. You have the stomach to call me a betrayer.
You are acting like a selfish, egoistic child in an obstinate age!
You must be the only person in the whole world who thinks RTCW (the Q3engine) is "unplayable" at 125fps
What the hell is wrong with you? What have you start putting in your pipe, CRACK!?
I feel sorry for you, if you can't play this game at 125fps, how on earth are you going to be able to play the new Wolfenstein? Poor little Blaster.
He says, the server have turned into a OSP server.
I say, that ECG atm is the best Shrub server in the history.
Now STFU and come play on the server, or just beat it.
And i truly wish you a good life.

Re: Kicking for cl_timenudge -10?
To those people who have said timenudge only affects your client I have found this conversation with Rhea who wrote OSP and some radom bits from Bani who wrote....bani mod and etpro.
It's from 2003 which is when much of the timenudge debate began.
Here is the KEY line:
GaB`w|Mindcrime: does that mean that I can notice another player being jumpy while HE is using TN?
a|rhea`wrk: yes
Now I know some of you know lots of other coders and I'm certainly not saying you're lying but if Rhea who was widely revered as a bit of a God says that's true - then I will use that as evidence to SUGGEST that TN does not just affect the users client.
Disclaimer: notice I said SUGGEST not PROVE. Also I do believe timenudge was modified in OSP so he may be referring to that version.

i got a simple questions to the guys who worked on ET and know the netcode and the effect of some commands.
all know the cl_timenudge command, some hate it some like it and some give a shit on it cause they don't know it
a guy from clan gab (mindcrime from NL) ask rhea (coder of osp) if cl_timenudge do only affect on clients when u set it to -20 or something.
here u see a small copy of that statement.
GaB`w|Mindcrime: i only still play rtcw actively, et sucks too much at the moment... :?
GaB`w|Mindcrime: personally, et lags too much, timenudge is even worse, ppl start selfkilling in order to deny you xp points...
GaB`w|Mindcrime: btw i allways wanted to ask you that
GaB`w|Mindcrime: did you osp guys change something in the server code so that it recalculates differently when an opponent changes his timenudge
GaB`w|Mindcrime: officially tn should only change the players perception
GaB`w|Mindcrime: but imho when i have an opponent playing with tn
GaB`w|Mindcrime: he jerks around a lot more then when he does not use it
GaB`w|Mindcrime: tested it with some guys
GaB`w|Mindcrime: ah, could you shed some light too on the timenudge thing for me?
GaB`w|Mindcrime: cause it's a big discussion out there
GaB`w|Mindcrime: especially since some leagues set PB cvar timenudge in 0 in ET
GaB`w|Mindcrime: agree with them
a|rhea`wrk: hey
a|rhea`wrk: yea, TN is an issue with the engine itself
a|rhea`wrk: there is some client-prediction stuff that can smooth it no matter what the other player has for their TN
a|rhea`wrk: I just need to add it in
//small pause

a|rhea`wrk: nope, no idea, heh

Re: Kicking for cl_timenudge -10?
And now for the skeptics.
I see how it can be hard to understand this, specially if you before allready had a good connection to the server. So therefore you don't see much of a difference.
But you guys want more proofs depsite the other players saying they now have a better ecgn wolf experience.
This is how you actually check if this is true in a perspective of the other players.
#Go spectator on the server.
#Be sure to have your lagometer running (/cg_lagometer "1")
Now scroll thrue all the players and watch the lagometer closely.
You will now see how thier connection behaves.
(And of course, it has to be lot of player on the server while doing this.)
Comparison:
With the previous settings many players lagometer's was jumping all over the place.
Now with the new settings , which i claim to give better registration and less lag, you will see that they now have a smoother/better lagometer, thus showing they have less lag and better reg.
So now, it is not an illusion and there's my evidence showing that theory and practice is not always the same thing.
Happy fragging!

I really hope you are over this thread b/c all you have been saying is how you got screwed. Honestly, I can't see how that is possible when you use settings that are against fair play. I guess it is only fun if you have an advantage... good game.
