The Hacker Delusion

A short a compilation of demos with shownormals and timescale 5. I'm pretty sure that most people would feel confident of suspecting this player of wallhacking. The interesting thing is that he has been one of the top 3 Quake 3/Quake Live duelers for the past 5 years winning Quakecon in 2008 as well as various other LAN events and consistently placing top 4 at all major international LANs.

I know I'm not going to convince anyone who has personally invested themselves in believing ECGN is infested with hackers but I think this illustrates that in a ten year old game you are most likely being beaten by predictable game play, superior map knowledge, experience, and habituation. Lots of things can look fishy if you discount that most players have been in the same situation thousands of times.

He's clearly modding. I say we ban his subnet in case he downloads rtcw.

It's not enough we should contact the president and petition to have him impaled on the top of the Washington monument. Also we should kill his family...

He is camping weapons banks. I would not say he looks like he is wall hacking at all. His aim gets close to the opponent but not enough to be fishy. I played Unreal Tournament and Quake III on invite LAN parties for years. Both are totally different game play versus RTCW. The mechanics of the games are similar but the way you play and the weapons damage are 2 different things. When you pick up weapons it makes sound, so camping is even easier then RTCW.
We played both games at 200% speed a lot, makes RTCW feel like your crawling on the ground. Running and gunning is a must. I like UT more then any game ever made for FPS. It's over 10 years old and still plays very very well.

I am not getting on any HE IS HACKING what not, as I like MOFO, REM and Source, they may be a bit fishy at times but there game play is cool. I just can't shoot long range to save my ass. Up close though I feel fine with there play. I am not saying there long range is a hack either. Just that they are better then me.
I have sepected a few others though, that I would say are walling, but not going to start calling them out, not my server. For those that are using things, I am sorry that it has to be that way for them. Playing on your own skill is very rewarding.

And spread scripts.

Re: The Hacker Delusion

There's no such thing as a spread 'script' on the Q3 engine you baboon.

Let's assume first you're talking about a script in the wolf sense of the word. I use a sprint toggle when I play that looks something like this...

set sprinton "+sprint; echo ^2Sprint On"
set sprintoff "-sprint; echo ^4Sprint Off"
set sprint "vstr sprinton"
bind shift "vstr sprint"

Do you notice anything? Any limitations? Oh yeah I'm limited to the fucking cvars from the q3 engine http://dallastdm.com/forum/index.php?topic=1381.0 here's a huge list of them find me ones that might change the spread. Or do anything evenremotely close.

The only thing even remotely related to what you're talking about would be the old no recoil sniper script which actually just dropped your fps a bunch after you shot to give the illusion of no recoil.

Fortunately if you wanted no recoil, you could hook cg_weaponfirerecall (the function in the engine that adds recoil to your view when cg_fireweapon gets called and when you are holding an appropriate weapon). And then after hooking this function you can of course detour it and right your own. Which leads me into my next point, you can't fucking do that with weapon spread because it's dealt with on the serverside. Meaning the only way to change it would be if whoever owned the server wanted to start hooking things from the server cgame or it was written inside Shrub etc and then guess the fuck what...EVERYONE ON THE SERVER WOULD HAVE IT. So shut the fuck up.

None of these people you guys cry about hack and Likethat you couldn't kill bigrig if he was 2 inches infront of you.

Love,
A stupid whitename player

P.S. As someone who is somewhat involved in the hacking community I can tell you that there are probably about 3 people on 1.4 who hack. It's not hard to make a pb proof hack but who would waste their time. Any of the real coders who spend their time making hacks have moved onto the new games because they can make $$ off it. The only one who might is some computer science student who's bored as shit in his mom's basement and decided to see if he could do it.

P.P.S. Sorry that this shatters your imaginary world where you're the best player on wolf but most if not all of these players you complain about are clean. I bet I could install wolf right now and make you all pound sand and I can't even remember the last time I played. Why? Because most of you guys blow and anyone without parkinsans disease and half a brain can go at least 50-20 every game.

Or you could do it the easy and legal way and just descope right after firing and immediately rescope again. Do it over time and it becomes automatic and you greatly decrease your recovery time in between shots.

I do that but unfortunately I don't know jack shit on scripts and binds. I would like the script that Nelo Angelo when he snipes.

My config is default. Fire, slide finger over to mousewheel and click twice really fast. You're rescoped and ready for your next shot. A more efficient way would be to change the scope button to somewhere near your movement buttons, but I never modified my config much so it works for me.

Who is Nelo Angelo? Never heard of him.

I don't trust what I see when spec'ing someone. There are spec bugs in Wolf especially with the mauser. Demo yourself sniping and running after scoping and you'll see what I mean.

Remedy is only ok with the mauser. He mainly sits on the hill and picks off easy targets in the early minutes of the round. I'm not knocking him since he is an SMG god. He doesn't practice with mauser so it's not his strong point.
