Raven Shield

Hello everyone. I just wanted to see if there was anyone that would be interesting in playing Raven Shield. I intend to get a permenant TS server channel (and appropriate sub-channels) set up on ECGN shortly. I've already got a temporary server up and running. I do not think that ECGN offers Raven Shield hosting, but there are a number of decent servers out there now for us to play on - plus the game is not nearly as taxing as BF1942 to host (probably because of few players on each team).

Raven Shield doesn't require nearly as many people to make up a "full" game so I'm thinking we should have no problem getting it to where we always have a comfortable number of people. So far, in the past 2 days I've found eight people that are interested in playing.

Just as in the BF1942 play on ECGN#1, I'm hoping we can build a nice little community of regulars all using TS. If we feel like it was can get more serious and test our skills against other groups (or even clans) but right now I'm hoping to simply build some good 'ol fashion fun.

Freedom I am in. I played online last night 3 on 2. What a great game.

This and BF will satisfy all of my gaming needs for a long while.

At least until Lords of the Realm III comes out.

Also, am I reading it correct? Is a teamspeak server $10/month total?

If that is the case, I will definetly help out with that.

Sign me up! Battlefield and Raven Shield are the 2 games I am currently playing. I posted up a thread before asking if ECGN would host a Raven Shield server, but didn't get any response. (Raven Shield Dedicated Linux Server will be released with upcoming patch)

I would like to stick with ECGN for all my gaming needs so hopefully MmmmGood will offer it in the near future.

Run Animal Run. I haven't even tried the single player yet... but the online is incredible. However, I did go through the training missions. RS solves many of the little nuisances in GR. For example, you can order you teamates (I am talking about single play) to open doors and dro pin a grenade while you provide cove. That is something I always wanted to be able to do in GR.

Sannop, I already have you on the top of the list. We've got Buli and Hightimber on board as well. Animal and BeCynical, I'll make sure I keep all you up to date as well. The more the better.

I need to get clarification regarding the ECGN TS server fees. I would also like to keep everything (TS and Game server) with ECGN simply because how good they've been to us. I don't think they offer Raven Shield hosting now but maybe we can get them to change that.

I'll be helping some non-ECGN buddies get up and running with TS early this evening and then hope to be able to play by around 8pm CST - though 9 pm CST may be a little more realistic.

Zoolander has a TS server up and running now with a single RS channel running that I figure we can use until our more permanent solution is set-up. I don't have the server address wtih me at work but I'll send it to anyone who is interested.

I would highly suggest this game to ANYONE who remotely likes realism (and teamplay).

I also just discovered this cool in-game feature called drawing tools - it allows team members to sketch out strategies and tactics on a map on the fly. While it might not be that good for adervarial mode - it's awesome for Cooperative games.

Raven Shield Players Group

Day One Update:

Wow. What a rough first day. We had TeamSpeak problems, server problems, version problems, “fatal errors”, connection problems……………uh, I’m sure I’ve left other problems out.

But when all the dust settled we were able to determine that game is pretty damn nice. However, there is NO DOUBT we need a dedicated server. Please oh mighty ECGN gods, please make the decision to host Raven Shield games.

I want to thank BeCynical, Sannop, and Hightimber from our ECGN Battlefield players’ group for having the patience to stick with it as we ironed out many first time kinks.

Next step is to set up a dedicated server (80% of all our troubles), and with that a TS server with multiple channels. I’m hopeful that the remaining 20% of the hurdles we jumped over/through tonight will not have to be hurdled again.

Guys, this game is FUN, and TeamSpeak makes it that much better. If anyone else is interesting in playing just PM me or e-mail me at rhartway@yahoo.com . If (once) ECGN makes their call on hosting Raven Shield games it’ll be super easy to al gather up, but until then I’ll do my best to inform every one of the TS server and game IP’s.

Argh. Sannop, don't post bmps! It's not standard, and not compressed either. Convert them to jpegs first.
